Accumulating snow with no returns, +SN with this garbage. You guys never miss.

Hollow victory.

It's like going to the Casino and always winning ONLY $100 on the slots, while everyone has won $10,000 at least once. It may all add up and equal out eventually, but the excitement just isn't the same as winning $10,000 all at once at least once.

But thanks anyway.

You have unrealistic standards, when you get back to reality then we can discuss things. The fact is this has been an incredible month and an incredible winter that doesn't look to slow down any time soon. Keep chasing the unrealistic 3" per hour snowstorm that will never hit Detroit.

Hey, if it makes you feel better, I experienced pretty much my first period of snow this winter with better than 1" per hour rates.  Anything greater than 2" per hour is not that common around here.

Yeah I have come to terms years ago a true historic type blizzard is just not in our books lol... We missed out largely in 1967, 1978, 1999, and 2011 while nearby areas got 20+" in each. 1974 was close but still not legit 20 incher.

You have unrealistic standards...(snip)

Perhaps.

Regardless, it still doesn't change anything I said in that post. Detroit is a relative screw zone for big dog snowstorms, even considering how uncommon they may be elsewhere.

I'm sure you'll be happy to know that I'm taking a break if nothing of significance comes out of the early-mid February potential. I will probably be ready for Spring/Summer at that point.

Got just under 3" of the driest snow I've seen here at MSP. They've expanded the blizzard warnings further east but just west of the TC metro. 50mph gusts really gonna create wicked conditions later. Hope it's just as crazy back home in Chitown.

I just tried to snow blow the driveway. It drifted back over in less than 10 minutes.

RAP also showing that band falling apart rapidly and only hitting northern Ohio in later frames. This would be an outlier from the GFS and particularly the NAM.

rap blew chunks with this clipper....showed most areas from us on south getting whiffed when I checked it late last night....   oops, gotta go shovel now.

Lol...exactly. 3 or 4" later, I'm waiting for the snow plow to go by our street so I can plow without getting blocked in again!

on the bright side I would think the warmer it gets ahead of that front, the more interesting it's passage will be.

But the RAP is a whiff to the north. ;)

Interestingly though, the 12z RGEM p-type maps bring a mixed bag through LAF later. Might make sense with temps getting so warm here today. Only thing that is really going to suck, is the snow cover is going to get vaporized.

Another thing to be watched is that thermal ridge Sunday.  If the low tracks as far north as a few of the models show much of Iowa and even into northern IL could rise above freezing for awhile.  That could really cut down on any blowing snow.

Bump.

This is indeed happening, but how much of an impact on the blowing snow remains to be seen.  Certainly areas south of I-80 could get crusted up, but the snow that falls with the squall line could make up for that.

Yikes. Glad we got an extra 4" today...should help with that torch coming, though I can't imagine it being quite as impressive here.

The farther east you are, the less warmth makes it in I think. Should be a brief warm up for you guys...but nothing like what will transpire here. It'll be an all day assault for LAF. Just cracked 35º on my thermometer...a 22º rise since 8:00 AM. Snow melting like a mother...
