The problem is the SE Ridge. It remains strong and heathly over the next two weeks pumping in warm gulf air. A Weak Bermuda High slightly further East wouldnt be bad but we need the Strongly negative PNA to weaken considering we have a huge trough situated across the East, suppressing the Aleutian Ridge and preventing a -EPO from developing.

I certainly think given the pattern possible over the next 2-3 weeks maybe a sign of Winter. If this cool-warm-cool pattern is persistent through the Winter months, we'll hardly have any cold outbreaks, may end up similar to 2001-02 if the Pacific doesnt get a bit more favorable, haha.

I mean look at dat huge trough located across the Pacific NW and the resulting Ridge across the East. Not a good pattern for Winter. Seems like a EB -NAO and the PV seems displaced across Northern Canada.

wouldn't that EC map be heading towards something good with all that ridging at high latitudes? It looks like that western trough would be pushed east under the blocking no? Or at least shoot out some energy into a gradient? Am I interpreting that correctly?

Weenies will be weenies. Really no reason for it, but I guess people got addicted after the last snow event.

I wouldn't say doom and gloom, I'd say we were like tigers woods at a porn store for 1 week and we are now coming back to reality

Well, Thats what happens when you get october snow, A lot of folks not all think winter has started and that it will be cold and snow from here on.

I'm kind of enjoying this weather now.. there's really no point in having snow in early to.mid November anyways.. if it ain't snowing, bring on 60s.. at least with 60s you can be comfortable outside

I had said that to Scott yesterday, There is really no usefull reason for snow this early without the ground, lakes or ponds being frozen..

Terrible news this morning.. Let's push for the sooner rather than later

that 240 euro forecast was the ugliest lookin map i've seen in a while

and it's ok to call a crap pattern a crap pattern and look at it from a non coastal plain perspective....mid november on in the deep interior is game on for snow so the mike's and pete's can b**ch a bit as well as CNE/NNE away from CP.

those who ski want it cold NOW so the snow guns can go bonkers and this pattern is SH$% for it . that is my main gripe :( With that said i hope the 12z brings the cooler wx back at least so the snow guns can turn on.

hoping to hit the slopes eithe next weekend or thanksgiving weekend. last year wa wa opened for thanksgivng regardless that they hadn't seen a trace of snow yet. this year they've seen 20 inches but that means nothin. I want snow first but i'd take cold and dry any day starting now....if that means 48/28 for the 128 loop perfect. means the snow guns will be crankin everywhere at nite.

Geez, all of your perspectives are so messed up right now. Yeah, a colder pattern would be nice. But we have had winters absent of meaningful snow until February. Last winter didn't start until the end of December, and it turned out amazing.

Enjoy the nice weather now. Get outside instead of whining on a weather forum all day lol. The snow will return. Honestly, this is the pattern we WANT right now. The huge cold vortex in Canada is just a perfect primer for a cold and snowy pattern across the CONUS to start the winter.

Jesus jump off the ledge lol.. its 11/8 for God sakes... and I don't know why you're surprised about a wagons north winter.. everyone's been saying that for months now

I'm the biggest weenie on the board.. and I'm nice and relaxed right now.. winter will come.. it always does

Beat me to it lol.. I'm waiting for the annual vim toot post complaining about warm weather affecting the caribou industrial sections

Agreed. Cold and snow is a waist right now. Lets get it in December when it is more meaningful.

I think all of the Connecticut Weenies need to come back to climo and realize last year was an anomaly

I would like it to be colder for T-Day too...but it's kind of early to unleash the dogs in November. However, it's not great if November is a torch month, but if you can change the pattern or at least try to change the pattern before the month ends..it's usually ok I think.

I think were looking good if were tracking snow threats in early December

Don't agree. nov. is a cold wx month

Pretty hard to sustain a cold pattern from November straight on through winter. I'd rather not blow everything in November and then moderate in mid or late December. I do agree that seeing November not torch is a good omen so we don't really want a warm month, but I think the key is to see how the month transpires...basically watch how the pattern starts to unfold. I think I can say with some confidence that it won't be a below normal month.
