AT

THIS TIME...WILL RANGE HIGHS FROM WELL UP INTO THE 70S TO NEAR 80

ACROSS THE INTERIOR..

There is more Blizzy:

BUT WILL KEEP HIGHS BELOW 70

ACROSS MUCH OF THE COASTAL PLAIN AND IT MAY NOT REACH 60 ACROSS

PORTIONS OF THE IMMEDIATE SOUTH COAST/CAPE/ISLANDS. HOWEVER...IF

THE BACKDOOR FRONT BLOWS OUT LIKE THE GFS SUGGESTIONS READINGS WILL

END UP MUCH WARMER THAN OUR CURRENT FORECAST SUGGESTS ACROSS PARTS

OF EASTERN MA. THIS CERTAINLY WILL HAVE TO BE FINE TUNED BY LATER

FORECASTS.

My area will be warmer than Steve's :axe:

 There was an interesting article in yesterday's local newspaper (written by a guy who does a local history column) detailing late spring snowstorms in the greater Gardner, MA areas.

There was one in the 1840s in May where people had to travel to town meeting by sleigh.

Lots of cool events

Hey that's inside 204 hours now. :snowman: ...and a great track for us out here. Think April 1987 I guess. :)

It does go to rain. I would doubt a large april 17th snowstorm for MT Tolland if 5 models showed it 48 hrs out. At this time of year it's hard to get any snow that survives past 10:00 AM the next day. Even 96 melted pretty fast.

IMO you gotta be >75F to qualify as a torch by April 10th in SNE. Mid 70's and lower is just run of the mill stuff in the normally volatile month of April. A 75F high is above the daily normal , but it's a "normal" occurrence. Anything from a high of about 45 to 75 on April 10th is par for the course.

Interesting. I wonder how much snow fell?

euro continues to suggest that tues front gets hung up along the SE coast with subsequent weak LP development mid/late next week. not sure what to make of it but that would offer a crappier wed/thur/fri period vs. the GFS/GGEM which are basically bone dry and mild. wonder if it's overzealous or on to something.

LOL... for Kevin:

SUNSHINE WILL MEAN HEATING...BUT HOW WARM? MUCH EXCITEMENT IN SOME

QUARTERS RECENTLY AS TO THE PROSPECT ON MONDAY OF MID TEENS

TEMPERATURES AT 850 MB TRANSLATING TO MAX SFC TEMPS IN THE 80S.

BUT SURFACE WINDS HAVE BEEN MOSTLY FORECAST AT 180-200 DEGREES

WHICH WOULD CATCH A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF BUFFERED MARINE AIR. IF

WINDS SHIFT MORE TO PURE SOUTHWEST...THE MARINE AIR WOULD MOSTLY

MOVE ACROSS RI AND EASTERN MASS. WITH A SOUTHWEST WIND OFF

LAND...MIXING TO 850 MB AND TAPPING THIS WARMER AIR IS POSSIBLE.

WITH A BUFFERING SOUTH WIND IT IS RATHER UNLIKELY. WE ARE

FORECASTING MIXING TO 900 MB WHERE TEMPS WILL BE EQUIVALENT TO 10C

AT 850 MB...AND WOULD SUPPORT MAX TEMPS AROUND 77F. THIS WOULD BE

MOST LIKELY INLAND ESPECIALLY IN THE CT VALLEY AND SOUTHERN NH.

FARTHER SOUTHEAST THE MARINE AIR INCREASES...TEMPS WILL TOP OUT IN

THE 60S COASTAL PLAIN AND 50S CAPE/ISLANDS.

I wonder if we can get some elevated tstms tomorrow night. GFS does spike KI's to around 35 or so which is pretty good, but it looked like it had some sort of convective feedback possibly, when looking at 500mb vorticity. SREFs also have the chance but keep it more towards southwestern SNE.

Impressive. You can see on visible satellite where the snowpack still exists.

It's really gone from most areas around here. My woodsy location aids in snow retention. It was in the teens this morning, so quite a warmup today. I was surprised when I went out to take the pic. Banana hammock weather. If I went down to Old Orchard Beach I could probably spot quite a few hammockers from Quebec.
