  2. Tony JFK was still cold in 2020 on this date? 42 degrees after snow on the 9th, wow! Highs:EWR: 96 (1996)NYC: 93 (1996)LGA: 93 (1996)JFK: 90 (1996)Lows:EWR: 42 (2002)NYC: 40 (1907)LGA: 45 (2002)JFK: 42 (2020) I remember that heat wave from 1996 very well-- it was the only heat that entire year lol.
  3. when do these blocks no longer become a factor? In summer, I dont think it would matter if there were a block there or not-- it would be hot either way.
  4. complain when it's 95, 70-80 degrees is not hot.
  5. Both days will be fine, it's Monday that it will rain.
  6. So glad I don't live in that part of the country-- for multiple reasons lol.
  7. No one has been able to answer this for me.... why did they create an entirely new scale? Why not just plug in the EF values into the old F scale, I actually like that scale much better.
  8. wow thanks Don, these are absolutely stunning! I wonder what the Cheshire Cat looks like :-)
  9. SPC Day 1 and Day 2 Outlooks. Still holding with marginal for Day 2 for the NYC metro region.
  10. Rolling Fork was right there too. Probably even closer than most realize to getting EF-5 ultimately. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk
  11. No rest for the weary. Saturday (Southern Plains) and Sunday further east are looking pretty impressive on the various 00z model runs.
  12. Keep me posted on that formula, but I'm not optimistic. I was actually on a roll with the AO/NAO for a few years, but last year I was off..expected it close to neutral and it was pretty +.
  13. Haha yeah I was out watering earlier when it was still thundering. Probably looked crazy at the time but I knew we weren't gonna get squat at that point. Most of the guidance had storms decaying well east of the MS river, but in reality they started shitting the bed way before that while still in east Iowa.
  14. Good call with @Chicago Storm for LOT. Straight garbage. Should have watered the garden tonight…
  15. Iowa tornado from today: This is one of the most impressive multi-vortex structures I've ever seen since El Reno.
  16. Was just thinking about when we’d see the next EF5. I had heard / read some criticisms that the NWS essentially redefined the damage necessary to classify a tornado as an EF5 as to be almost impossible. Basically it was stated that many historic EF and F5’s would be an EF4 with the new survey methods employed. Don’t know how valid that is, but the arguments I saw made sense in context and with examples. A few of the EF4’s since Moore would probably have been an EF5 with the less strict survey methods.
  17. dumped windows 10. had enough of the constant window update problems, virus crap, and bogging down with new software updates. Hate paying for windows software like word powerpoint etc. Went to linux mint back in 2015 and never looked back. My 12 year old computer with 16 gigs of memory hums like kitten. No viruses, runs quick as hell and use linux mint libre software for free. Updates on its own with nothing running in the background loading up to and and the updates are downloaded on my time, not windows. Major updates are free and best of all no virus checkers. Linux is king.
  18. Was a pretty intense night of storms. Had a QLCS train over the area with three main cores hitting us. The third was the strongest. Giving us about a 10 minute period of 65+ mph winds with a few stretches of 70+. Also heavy rain, the backyard is a lake now
  19. Seems like these warnings in Wisconsin were all about wind threat and no tornadoes
  20. Not really lawn related but house related. We are having our house re-sided and some new windows installed. The finished the first side today.
