Is we back? February discussion thread

So nothing is wiped clean ? No rains to Ray’s? -
he and Bad Bunny had a skit together on SNL - one of the funnier ones in recent memory.

At this point, I don't think it's as much of the strength of the high pressure as it is the amount cold air available to transport south. The overall picture definitely lends towards a cold rain, unless something changes with the depth of cold that will be available.

Most of the rest of February looks good, if you're looking for cold air. The MJO is going to stay in Phase 3 from about 2/13 to 2/23. Around 3/1 (give or take a few days), the pattern flips warmer. I'll be shock if we don't get a temperature in the 60s during the first week of March. -

I just hit 60 for the first time since Christmas Day! The bright February sun sure does feel nice. -
If you are talking about DC proper, I believe that the Knickebocker Storm is the champion. In that Friday-Sunday, January 27-29, 1922 storm, Washington, DC received 28.0 inches of snow and ice, and 3.03 inches of precipitation. However, Dulles Airport topped that in the Friday-Saturday, February 5-6, 2010 storm, receiving 32.4 inches of snow and ice, and 3.25 inches of precipitation. That storm was not nearly as severe at DCA, totalilng only 17.8 inches of snow and ice, and 1.50 inches of precipitation.

I'm quite happy for this snow to stick around, personally. It's been a very long time since we've had a proper deep winter. I'm all aboard the spring train come March, but this is a really nice run of snow on the ground/feeling like deep winter. Better than 40s and no snow imo. -
the halftime show was incredible - just brilliant from start to finish.

Are you referring to 2"+ liquid events in DJF? What airport are you looking for, just DCA< or BWI, DCA, and IAD?

what vendor? weenievista? wxbell isnt out yet

EPS did trend colder, but need significantly colder air to get meaningful frozen precip. Would target mid-20s dewpoints in place at least leading up to the event. CAD over performing often means temps held in the upper 30s instead of torching to the 50s around here, without a strong high and decently cold source air. Both are kinda meh on consensus right now
