Well the heat wave finally hit. Bounced to 35.1. Maybe we get in on the back end snow flurry action here. -
DCA snuck in a 61F before the front blew through.

Okay...I gotta clear something up - if need be... But some of you appear focused on the colors of those non-hydrostatic charts? That peachy color over the Canadian archipelago and adjacent areas of higher latitude up there, those do not depict a block. All those colors depict higher than normal heights. That's actually a non-blocked, +PNA flow, that happens to be above normal heights in all directions. It's actually a fantastic anomaly to see that at this time of year for other reasons.. Anyway, you have to look at the geometry of the curving isohypses. -
This event was 1" - 5" across the NYC metro - NOT 4" - 8".. See the circled area in the map of interpolated NWS snowfall reports below. The NWS OKX forecast area, which encompasses a large region NORTH and EAST of NYC, does not equate to the NYC metro. Don, your tables and stats are not representative or convincing, which disappoints me. A visual representation is helpful here. Even if you limit your analysis to a single 18z NAM run, it was the only model to correctly capture the sharp gradient through NYC.

Goofus went SHLABAM! Called it. I had that something’s about to pop feeling, which is exactly why the beers were cracked at the start of the run. Okay okay… fine… they were cracked at lunch. BUT STILL. Premonition beer is a thing. Cheers!

We’re doing the Christmas by Candlelight thing at Old Sturbridge Village tomorrow. That will be fun with 50mph winds and temps in the low 20s dropping into the teens. -
