  1. Past hour
  2. Just keep thinking cool thoughts before this record heatwave eventually abates. It’s wild how the higher elevations of the West can get snow this time of year. Even the late June sun angle was no match for these heavy rates and large aggregates on a paved road.
  3. Here in Carlisle at 7:00pm...the current temperature is 94.8 degrees. The dew point is 74.5 degrees giving a heat index of 106.2 degrees. The lower dew point of roughly 5 degrees from the earlier reading of 80 degrees has also helped lower the heat index by roughly 13 degrees. It is still ridiculously hot given it's 7:00pm and the temperature is only down to 95. In my previous post I said that I had reached a high of 100.4 degrees. That actually turned out to be the high for today. I might have to wait until midnight before walking my dog. Maybe the temp will be down to 83 degrees?
  4. Thank you for placing a forum name. Wish him well.
  5. 96.6 for the high looks like the feels like hit 117 briefly woth the high dews
  6. June 30th-July 1st max heat indices were 106 and 103 at Toledo 97.7 with heat index 106.3
  7. Falls Lake as of late this afternoon as the steady fall resumes:
  8. 97F at Cleveland. Hottest overall since 2012 (98F), and matches 2012 for hottest by this date in the year since 1988. Toledo topped out at 99F, but it hasn’t been as long since it’s been that hot there. 2024 topped out at 99F & 2022 at 100F. I think Toronto, Ont. reached at least 98F. Bet it’s bet awhile since they’ve seen that temperature.
  9. 12z IAD sounding had +11° temps at 700mb we are capped baby.
  10. All of that concrete throughout the area no doubt adding to the mixing. Super adiabatic lapse rates over localized areas.
  11. From NWS IWX social media: Yes, you are reading this correctly, South Bend, IN had 10.06" of rain in June! This is incredibly rare to have over 10" of rainfall in just one month (especially taking into consideration that rainfall this June came from efficient heavy rainfall producing thunderstorms rather than from tropical remnants). There has only been one other time 10"+ of rainfall has occurred in June (1993 with 10.86", which is the monthly record rainfall). June 2026 was the 2nd wettest June on record in South Bend. Since records began in 1893, 10"+ of rainfall has only happened 3 other times. 10.06" in June 2026 ranks as the 4th wettest month ever in South Bend's history, behind 13.92" (Sept 2008), 12.81" (August 2016), and 10.86" (June 1993).
  12. As a farmer, you can always pump water to a crop. You can’t dry out a saturated field! Wet just breeds disease also. Learned this the hard way years ago.
  13. Definitely a lame heat wave for the DVN area by our standards. Only low 90s so far during this stretch, and dews haven't even officially hit 80. This is weak sauce.
  14. 99/79/116 were my peaks Wow
  15. Headed to Tampa area Saturday for a week. Nice to have weather up here as a precursor to what I’m looking at down there. LOL
  16. Touched 100 today IMBY so we start the streak of 100 deg days.
  17. Days 1 is in CON 95 BDL 95 MHT 94 BTV 93 BOS 92 PVD 90 ORH 90 EWR 99
  18. Home after the trek back from PT Judith, 84-88F on Rt 138 from URI until I got to I-395; once on 395 in Plainfield Killingly temps jumped to 91, 89 now at home. There is a nice breeze here now making it somewhat tolerable outside.
  19. Immediately as there was a west wind
  20. Ok that can't be a real town
