That night I was playing in a band up in Baltimore, gig was over at 2 am ( yes, people actually came out to see us play) and I drove home to Arnold MD in the snow. Baltimore beltway was covered in 6 to 12 inches of snow. Yes, much lightning.. but I had never truly never experienced white out conditions before or after. Most of the time I could see the ground right in front of my ford van.. like 10 or 15 feet away.. but there were moments where it was like someone poured white paint on my windshield..I could not even see any of my hood just outside the windshield, it was blinding white, and it only flashed blind for a few seconds at a time..but I had to stop full on the road and wait. The switch to seeing 15 feet away to nothing was instantaneous, it was like the whiteout happened when the concentration of snow in the air reached a critical mass, there was nothing gradual about the switch. More than lightning, the instant switching to seeing 15 feet away to the windshield being a lit up white wall… and then back to being able to see the ground…. that was the real shocker.

I remember learning that back Eastern US Weather, poster named OKPowdah wrote a paper about Miller B storms I’ll see if I can find it

When I crashed out for the 0z Wednesday runs I went to sleep without looking at the Euro and swore off looking at any models till past 12z the next day. I ended having vivid dreams about seeing the mixing line jump north on all the models… huh… maybe I dreamed the future.

12z 3km NAM is burying KDFW in 5 to 6 inches of sleet.

I just got an alert on my phone for 10-14”.

Being burned so many times in the past, I’m thinking 2-4” snow before we change over to sleet and then freezing rain.

When I first wake up and am in the interlude between sleep and getting up I often hallucinate realistic enough 6z runs and forum messages reacting to them. I've got a real effin problem

I think we've got a good shot. It'll be a little deflating when the pinging starts, but after its over we'll feel it wasn't that bad.
