I’ve lost count of how many flash flood warnings there have been for NYC this summer.

This wild violet crap has taken over in the last couple years, and it is pervasive and nearly impossible to get rid of. Only good thing about it is butterflies seem to love it. I see so many Monarchs lately. Just like every other weed, I learn to love it since trying to keep any grass growing here is futile. Moss and various weeds, a bit of grass and clover. Such a variety!

Augdewst 2026: Summer's Last Stand

Today never looked like anything. This hobby and region will teach you to always expect nothing to happen. -
Had a decent thundershower in the last half hour here. My son is at work in Martinsburg and called to say large hail is accumulating there.

This is kind of funny, but almost all the meso models show nothing here.

Still holding strong. The norther lobe of the cell conglomeration is dying in Wake County.

Been rockin’ & rolling since about 3:30. 0.75” in the bucket so far. It’s dropped my temp down to 68F. -
Going to be a fun rush hour - plenty of heavy precip - storms moving in from the west - southwest towards the metro - much of NE NJ under water already

0.8 inches of rain this week, mostly last Friday evening. 1.8" total for August MTD. Raining here now too.

2026-2027 Record-breaking El Nino
raindancewx replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
I've been disappointed with the E Pacific hurricane season so far. Was hoping we'd have several land falling systems on Western Mexico to help with rain out here. Nothing. CFS is insistent every month from Sept-Mar will be wet locally. We could use that. CFS also has the entire US, except for New England, cold at least one month from Jan-Mar, so that's encouraging to see. For comparison, 2023 had 11 named systems in the Atlantic by 8/31. We're at...four. By the end of August, 2015/2019 had five, 2018 had six, and 2014 had three. 1982/1997 were relatively quiet too. 2004/2018/2023 are the more recent active hurricane seasons in El Ninos. Nice to see we're not getting a big hurricane season with this. Wyoming is favored wet in El Nino Augusts. Other than that, precipitation is still not behaving with an El Nino look. No AO/NAO/WPO/EPO/PNA signature to it either. -

The goal is to remove any indigenous language and replace it with white nationalist language. That’s why words like Ontario, Denali, Mexico, etc. have been targeted.

This cell puts me over 2.5 inches for the day

Absolutely. Rainy day on the south shore. Good amount of thunder.
