  1. Past hour
  2. 0.71” here hoping for a little more today
  3. Just ripping most of the night. Sustained 35-40mph, gusts 45-50. Its still hammering pretty good.
  4. I saw that swath of heavier precipitation out your way. Here its been nothing but drizzle. I've yet to record even 0.01" on the Tempest, but the most I've seen from conventional tipping bucket gauges locally is 0.03".
  5. Follow NWS warnings and statements... am asking for no message confusion from the non government mets. A serious problem is developing for the NJ/LI coasts. In my retired state...hype sometimes is valuable and I think for our coastal residents, it's warranted for mitigating adverse impacts this afternoon through Monday night. No significant changes in the p1 outlook or thread title... if anything the thread title might be too conservative? Operationally: am not relying on the 00z/12 EC...too slow. I think 00z/12 ECAI look is much better. Tides seem to be running almost 2' above normal now. Winds are gusting to gale force along the NJ coast southward to the Carolinas. Rainfall for the past 24 hours is sampled by climate sites attached. I will try at times to monitor and post reality, but have a celebration of life service this afternoon, and two grandchildren 3-5 years old tonight-Columbus Day. You all have it... I think it best to keep NWS messaging similar. If you individually want to ignore... that is your ultimate responsibility. Try not to put first responders in jeopardy. Thanks. 707A/12
  6. You do realize those forecasts become less useful the further out you go...i.e. you are posting the equivalent of 384hr gfs
  7. Still some discrepancies for sure. The same euro are not really close in agreement.
  8. I picked up .34” of rain overnight. Montourville airport registered .53” of rain. Yesterday 1988 there was a trace of snow recorded. We’re getting closer. overall, the weekend rain seems disappointing
  9. No rain yet, but the wind is already whistling and roaring here on the water. Big white caps piling up.
  10. Today

    Winter 2025-26

Oh my mistake. That definitely changes the sensible outcomes.
  12. All this over a busted rainstorm- Its as if we don't get enough of these rug pulls with snow in the winter so we wanted to experience it with rain too.
  13. I wonder if the new piece of Rt 6 by Camp Smith is raised enough to stay dry.
  14. Maybe they wasted the name Karen on that so if they need to name the coastal, which will be a high impact event, it won't have the name Karen and people won't focus on that. I don't think they will name this storm until possibly a late stage after it leaves the coast. That may mean the tropical system down around 15N will get a name first (Lorenzo) and the coastal could end up being Melissa. Or it could be just Lorenzo and no Melissa until later in October.
