Yes it's been awesome here! -
I had tapped 20 trees last year with buckets and made about 4 gallons, I made an RO system and it cut down on evap time by 50%.

Feb 22nd/23rd "There's no way..." Obs Thread
SomeguyfromTakomaPark replied to Maestrobjwa's topic in Mid Atlantic
For some reason I’m not as jealous of nyc and bos as I normally would be. I think just being later in the season perhaps, when I see pics from the areas where it stopped snowing an hour after the blizzard and it’s all melting already I am like meh. -

16 will be tough. I'm just glad I should be able to go over 12". HFD has been gusting good. Might fall just short of blizzard criteria with that 9:50am report. -
I am beginning to think that these bands don't necessarily have much heavier snow but rather larger snowflakes. I had very small snowflakes most of the night and now there bigger and the radar picks that up.

Same here in Marlboro. Must be close to 30” by now

It'd be wild if they break 30". It never happened in the city. -

Just to clarify, I'm not "out" as in leaving here. I'm just tired of the hassle of being asked to make a forecast and then ridiculed for it because it isn't what they want to hear. -

The SPC HREF been one of our best performing pieces of guidance especially in extreme events. It’s what helped to give the NWS the confidence to issue its great forecasts the last few days with this event. Just shows how far weather forecasting has come. When I was growing up in the 1970s and 1980s many times we didn’t even know a big snowstorm was coming even a day before. I would say the last major model miss was 1-25-00 when the 12z runs the day before were all offshore with no snow for many places that got record snow.

Central PA Winter 25/26 Discussion and Obs

Here in Carlisle I managed to pull of an additional 0.2" since midnight which brings my storm total to exactly 2.0". My sister in northern NJ (Morris County) texted me an hour ago and said they were up to 17.5" and still snowing. A weather friend in Bergen County (Paramus) said he was up to 13.5" and still snowing. Heavy bands were still coming through. Very windy also. My low overnight was 30.0 degrees and it's now up to 34.9 degrees with some wind for the first time. Snow starting to fall off the tree branches. Had one exciting hour yesterday evening between 6:00 and 7:00 when 1.0" fell. That's half of my storm total. -
lol hyperbolic to the extreme. If you believe 3/4 of the mt holly cwa underperformed there’s no arguing because that just isn’t reality.
-
Shoveling isn't as bad as I feared. Don't get me wrong, it's heavy, wet cement. But because the pavement was "warm" going in, snow didn't accumulate as well on those surfaces.

If you can get to 16” that’d be awesome. The winds here now are strongest we’ve had -

It is definitely picked up here, though not quite heavy. It would probably be moderate if it wasn’t blowing so hard. -
This simply amazing I’m getting puked on

@RJay put it well in one of the model review threads a few days ago: 'it just snows itself out.' It sure looks like when this does end some day, that that's how it ultimately ends, rather than pulling away.

Temps have been good, pack retention excellent and snowfall thru yesterday (62") is right on the 27-winter average, but the south trend seems to be increasing. Yesterday's forecast for today was 3-5, now 1-3, and Friday is moving toward a possible whiff. May end up with a very good snow season despite lots of misses. 2014-15 was the archetype for that at our place - 4th snowiest winter here and plenty cold, but this old saying fits: "The saddest words of tongue or pen: these are the saddest, 'It might have been.'" Ignoring the mega bust of Jan 26-27, 2015 in SNJ, here are 3 mega busts for our area (forecasts were the final ones prior to 1st flakes): Date(s) Forecast Result Nov 2 4-8" 0.5" 10-12" midcoast Dec 9-11 10-14" 1.2" Paste bomb in the mountains Feb 14-15 12-18" 1.5" 25" at Machias (Had blizzard warning here, forecast morning of 14th was 18-24, dropped 6" by the day shift) Totals 26-42" 3.2"

Boy really got holed here the last hour . I sure hope this can fill in . I’m not used to this -
I’m not salty at all. It was an added bonus on an above average year. But factual reality is that likely 3/4 of their geographical area under performed their forecast to a very significant degree.
