Skies are starting to darken by me. Mets have postponed their game for tonight, so I guess they are expecting enough rain to come thru Flushing Queens this evening. I would not mind a good thunderstorm.

Pretty much getting missed by everything. Need rain desperately. Only had 1.19" in all of June. Temp did drop 11F down to 82F from the gust front, though. -
CFS has been showing a similar -epo/+pna pattern for months now. Progressive flow kinda similar to the 2013-15 winters. Bootleg -AO at best on the plots but who knows anymore. Volatility rules the roost lately and long range hasn't done well for years. My personal algorithm says odds favor a -AO more than the other way around. No reason to be down on our chances. All seasonal guidance has an OK pac DJF. At least the epo/pna as shown can deliver continental cold in the east. My gut says winter won't be 3 month cruise on the failboat fwiw

These developments provide good examples of how the dense foliage has changed the relationship of Central Park relative to the City's other locations and Newark. The problem is cited in the NOAA's inventory of stations. Unfortunately, the problem is not addressed. Thus, Central Park becomes less representative of the City's actual climate and, instead, an experiment that demonstrates the cooling impact of trees. -
Just got news that the college the youngest Ms. J attends got hit last night by a really bad storm. Her campus is known for its beautiful landscape and to see all the big old trees downed is so sad. No damage to any buildings and no injuries. Other people in Carlisle are showing damage that they got as well. Flooding as well around town. Dickinson Storm Damage 06/30/25

Wow! What an afternoon. I was working in Ellicott City. I was washing a large house. I got nailed with a storm around 1. I just kept washing. Then on my way home I got raked on 32 by NSA. Back here in low lowlands were getting waves of thunderstorms. It looks like a very stormy evening for the 95 corridor.

Mature trees produce 100k's of seed in a good year. Only takes one making it into the main crown canopy to sustain the species. -
It would be similar because I tend to post estimated scoring around the 20th then open the thread for new forecasts, edit the scoring ... but it's not that difficult to find the scoring posts, they are usually before the first forecasts for the current month. I'll go back to the old system (this is the only year I have done it this way) if we keep going into 2026. By the way, all scoring is updated, NYC has "missing" for 30th in CF6, but Don posted on NYC forum that the anomaly was +1.2 and that seems to fit the 1.0 to 29th and daily departure on 30th climate report of +5 ... if I see anything different in days ahead assuming they update that CF6, I will edit the scoring. This was one of the highest scoring months in a while, everyone broke 600 (even Normal and Persistence). Tom with 788 probably has a new p.b., I track that in the Dec 2024 thread at present and haven't gone in there to update yet. That will all migrate to Dec 2025 eventually. The highest score ever in 12 years of contests has been 810. I think several in the contest would have broken that using my ORD forecast (or if I used all eight of yours except ORD). Probably what will make it easier for people in general will be if I migrate scoring tables to end of new forecasts (they are already at beginning of new forecasts). I will do that but I don't think it's that hard to find them, they are generally a lot uglier than the rest of the thread!
