Septorcher 2026 Discussion - Endless Summer

I mowed my dust bowl of a lawn thinking we’d get at least a little rain. We’ll see what happens later, but it looks like another Steiner. I also have a lot of leaf drop now. Trees are stressed. -
Still a long way out to know for sure. The 12Z GEM and UKMET are OTS. The GFS made a shift to the right from 6z. So we’ll have to see what the Euro and AIFS does today. These very strong blocking patterns are tricky for the models to handle. Since there is a fine line between capturing a system and suppressing it offshore.

Still not sold on the PDO having any meaningful influence this cool season. But time will tell. -

Decent sheet drizzle here today. Don’t really need it or want it. -

The Titans suck. With the Bears and Rams coming up, is today the classic “trap” game??

It’s crazy how these stalled out lows frequently seem to occur in the early fall and of course the early spring in New England. It’s like some overarching computer program has us dialed in for weeks of dampness and just general misery during the beginning of each equinox. At least it’s something interesting to track for the first time in a while. -
An interesting question in the intermediate term is whether our online society will become a bit less online. If AI tools become too good at hacking, do we need to reorient the ways of doing business such that they are no longer always online. Instead of killing us all, do we end up back in 1990?

I'VE been really disappointed with Rubenstein. If we're running it back with Elias and Albernaz then why would anyone expect better results? Elias has had 8 years and when he declared lift off we've had back to back last place finishes. Albernaz is in over his head. I don't think giving him another year will make a difference. ( I hope he proves me wrong) How many bites at the apple does a GM get? It's just ridiculous.

Precision steining. -
It's nice you can actually buy a mix that's optimized for sun and shade. My yard gets blasted by the sun all summer, so I was looking for something specifically for heat tolerance. Apparently Scott's Heritage is formulated for exactly that, so we'll see!

Get it out of the way now before winter sets in? Preemptive ? - Today

I am enjoying one last sunny day before four straight dark, wet, cool days coming up. The best rain amounts with this pattern should be the normal rain shadow areas east of the mountains - that means you Stephens City!

A steady soaking here too, up to .95
-
A nice soaking rain all morning, the radar doesn't do it justice, up to .95 on the day, 4.08 for the month, 60/58.
-
It’s been rainy out this way since the early morning hours; nothing too heavy, just persistent.
