E PA/NJ/DE Winter 2025-26 Obs/Discussion
ChescoWx replied to LVblizzard's topic in Philadelphia Region
Actually here in the NW burbs only 1.5 AN....we appear heading for our 4th straight below normal temperature month and 5th out of the last 6 months - that is impressive in our current warm cycle...suspect we may be trending to our next cooling cycle. -
When you have a ens mean showing over .25” qpf 5+ days out that’s a decent sign something may happen in that period.

The Philly area got the worst of it. Forecasted by NWS to get 8 to 12. Ended up with 0. -
This is my point, the big storm is always 10 plus days away...

I like all 4. Most nervous about SEA though. 49ers always give them fits. -

Yep it's coming in line with the AI models. Coast could get plowable snow -
seems more like Jan '96 minus the snow, wind, and general storminess.

All operational guidance has the same general idea for the 7-15 day period. Colder than normal temps with waves of moisture sliding west to east. Hopefully we can get that boundary in the right place. -
No, people are saying the storms are right around the corner. I will get excited if two globals show a storm inside 5 days. Otherwise it it really is hype/ false hope.
-
Euro has it, too. Looks like a classic NC winter storm with snow in the northern part of the state and ice in the southern and eastern part.
-
Oh man yes please
-
It looks like those are the adjusted altered figures....slope is wrong on the above

Who we like in the games? I need to get my pool in tomorrow morning. I am thinking SEA, NE, BUFF, LAR. Thoughts? I need to bet 4 points on my most confident and 1 on my least. That list is my favorite (4) to least favorite (1). Thoughts? -

2” of QPF on that prog back to Litchfield county. That was a pretty high stakes miss by the euro even though by 2015 standards, the distance miss wasn’t speculator. -

Winter weather advisory for Orange and Putnam counties tomorrow and western Passaic for 2-4 inches of snow. -
I thought Jan 27-31 was the big one, not Jan 23-25
-
Gets smashed to nothing as it goes east. But I kinda prefer that at this range anyway.

you said it was the gfs

There’s a mild possibility that Tolland is smack in the middle of the pack-less zone. Like draw a 20-30 mile oval around Tolland. -
Man....not sure if the headline from the 12z Euro is cold or snow or ice. If there is severe in there somewhere....it has pretty much everything.
-
It's pretty wild that coastal VA is looking at rain while SE Georgia might be the jackpot for snow
