2025-2026 ENSO
michsnowfreak replied to 40/70 Benchmark's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
Once again. I have no doubt warmth will eventually spread further north and east. Especially as our snow is gone, ice is breaking up on the lakes and the ground is thawing. But none of the ensembles show massive warmth engulfing the lakes into new England right after March 20th. -

The west might be in trouble this summer if we see persistent ridging out there. -
Linderbaum, Kohlar, Likely, and Stout were as good as gone with those contracts. Insane money for the first two. We apparently offered 4/88 for Linderbaum and he got 3/81…..No thanks. That’s insane for a C

71 in Tamaqua for the high today, and as you said, glorious! -
76.1 for the high today. 80 seems in reach tomorrow and/or Wednesday

Just rake it to get airflow, it will be fine. Don't need any chemicals, etc. I get it every single year pretty bad and its always ends up fine without any treatment. The snow mold areas might take a little longer to green up. Edit: let it dry some before raking.

Insane heat likely in the SW. I'm seeing Phoenix at 105 and Vegas at 100F. All time records -
It snowed in Charlotte on st Patrick’s day I think 2014? Was there for the bar crawl (I was younger) and woke up to snow

2026-2027 El Nino
michsnowfreak replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
His point about cold winning out from the western warmth the further east you went is very apparent from the winter temp departure. -
The northeast will be the cool island in a sea of warmth this spring. BDCFs should be quite strong this season.

Here comes the victory declaration...

You guys remember that CRAZY backdoor cold front we had last spring? I cant remember the date, but we dropped like 30 degrees in minutes! It was insanity. I remember going from 82 to like 48 in literally like 15 minutes.

Yes its torching today. I wasnt referring to you, I was referencing the fact that as soon as winter got off to a cold start, some were "projecting" a warm jan, then a warm feb. Like you, I primarily care about the weather where I live (SE MI) so the frequent posts about record warmth in the West were an afterthought in our cold, white winter. This winter was unusually in that Detroit averaged quite a bit colder than Chicago, but it made sense in this pattern as Chicago was further west. It was still a colder than avg winter at ORD, but very front loaded. -
Yeah some.drifts and shaded areas but it's gone enough that it just blends in now. I still have mailbox high driveway piles, some of those will hang out for a while because I purposefully shovel them to be as dense as possible inside the hedges. The other side was as high but melted off today. Gonna go fire up the grill

Thanks P. Allen Smith

Wonderful spring day…can’t wait for more of this!

Legit summer feeling out there. Best jog of 2026 so far. Aromas from restaurants getting ready for dinner. An occasional grill. Fresh laundry smell. Glorious out there.

Epic nosedive once we hit first week of February. At this point just would like to see the streak last through March and April for giggles. . -
This ain’t set in stone…we watch.

You left it too long before the winter/snow set in Scott. That’s tough.

Record highs today at DTW (72°) and MBS (68°), both beating the previous records by one degree.

@backedgeapproaching any remedies for snow mold on grass?
