    Around 8pm this evening looking N from the N side of the Beltway, I could see robust ACCAS, almost MDT CU. So there is your elevated instability in place. RRFS MPAS suggest a few cells may form in the DC area the next few hrs (DCA already reporting LTGIC NE), and we have those storms in the far nrn Delmarva w/ a distinct OFB. The EIR sat loop is impressive. Look at the backbuilding and sharp cloud temp gradient in far NE MD. NW flow is neat! hanimate.mp4

    This lightning is indescribable. And those strikes are "only" the CG strikes.

    Wound up with 0.65" of rain from this storm. It did cool things off a few degrees as well, thankfully!

    This may be some of the most apocalyptic lightning I've ever seen. The amount of cloud to ground lightning and cloud to cloud lightning is insane. Non-stop flashing and loud cracks. Unbelievable.

    A couple of big bangs of thunder a breeze maybe 15 mph and picked up a whopping 0.10" here in Media. It almost looked like the radar did not match what was happening at the surface here. The lightning around our area was impressive from the surrounding areas but that here was only thing really noteworthy with these storms. Before the storms came 86f humidity 75% dew point was 74f felt like 94f Now: 74f humidity 89% dew point 71 serious waste of calm conditions and just still latent heat here, but I am sure that was dished out in other areas. The ring of fire.

    Ah, okay...that makes sense. I agree with that.

    -AO/+NAO. There is like 90% corrlation between nao and ao, mostly over Greenland. The actual 60-90N Im calling AO but officially it's 90% correlated to NAO domain, further SE.

    Since 2012 May-Sept SLP 60-90N is reversing 60-90N H5 for the Winter. A lot of that raw +correlation is NAO-related.
