So just was chatting with one of the Mets from Upton, I had asked how the forecasts were doing with regards to coastal flooding, over achieving , under achieving or pretty on point. He said they have been very much on point for majority of region. With regards to the next few high tide cycles though, this morning was likely highest, but the next 2 could rival the morning high tides on some areas.

Though there have been several days of 50-52, yesterdays 47° at DTW was the first 40s since May 31st. Today was 49°.

I'm certainly not a Met but the satellite view right now doesn't look like a typical cold core system. Deep convection trying to fire near the center. Seems hybrid to me??

So far nothing to write home about. Just some wind and a shower. If this was a snow event people would be writing “storm cancelled” posts. I realize the main event is tonight into tomorrow. .

On a grade of 1 - 10, I would rate it a 7 so far. 20k without power in CT, 4k in MA, and 1k in RI doesn’t make this storm ordinary by any measure, but it’s also not the most severe we have had. Another 18 hours before it passes west and occludes so let’s make a final judgment tomorrow or Monday. Some areas definitely feeling it much worse than others.

Just heard a tree fell into or onto a house in southold maybe 30 mintues ago.

Radar suggests several mainly dry hours coming in NYC.

I'm curious what people would like us to do. For example, look at the call to action on the NWS coastal flood warnings and high wind warnings. Probably more "panicky" than anything a met said on air. Our forecast will turn out to be pretty much perfect in terms of wind gusts, impacts (scattered outages), and coastal flooding (minor to barely moderate).

Agree, wind seems to be increasing again in Bay Shore .

I expect some decent wind and rain but it's been so far overblown for those 90% there's no going back

Just a beautiful weekend lined up. Cloudy/rainy/windy/chilly...perfect weekend to do absolutely nothing. Grab a case or two, order out and become one with the couch watching football and not feel bad about it...

Latest 2026 Atlantic basin stats: Still not at 10 ACE points. Currently sitting at 8.9 and not going to reach 10 by end of the month. Still no hurricanes. While certainly not a given one has to start wondering if we can get though the season without a hurricane. It should at least be on the bingo card. I'd give it 50/50 odds.
