Picked up 1/2 inch of rain today. Definitely helped keep the temperatures down, even though it was extremely humid.

It's finally here, our favorite month, August. it seems early month with be dominated by "Coc". Not sure we'll see a return to big #'s, but hopefully some heavy dew days and slow moving tropical rainers to keep Stein at bay. And perhaps some TC remnants very late month?

Possible derecho out in MN this evening

Yeah that big MCS last night definitely saved us for today humidity wise. Was looking like a shoe-in for 80+ dews today, but stayed mid 70s. Was quite refreshing lol.

More late night Iowa sloppy seconds to look forward to, yipeee! -
If you haven’t decided yet, today looks okay for a clear night sky, at least according to the HRDPS which is apparently a decent model for cloud cover which I’ve heard in space weather groups. Satellite also seems good at the moment. Good luck stargazing.

Amazing how quickly it dries out in this heat. Had an excellent rainfall month (8.59”) but we’ve gone since July 21 without measurable rain since and it’s gotten crispy

Don's pre-summer outlook of a statistically significantly warmer than normal summer looks like it will come to pass with June-July at KEWR top 6. Very good statistical call barring a chilly August. Waiting on a thread til tomorrow morning for two 100F days at KEWR, (for me unexpected in lae June), to be followed by a potential widespread 1-4" forum rainfall with iso 8"... EPS through 12z/28 cycle continues strong on this, though edging northward. I also have to think there has to be a stripe of svr near the boundary Thursday? Just too early for me to be sure the EPS is going to be mostly correct. From what I can tell, WPC is so far, accepting the EPS solution. -

Now do fossil fuel subsidies. Of course we shouldn’t because that’s politics, and so is your post. This subforum is about the science behind climate change.
