@wxmeddleri asked but she didn’t know for sure.  And wasn’t willing to go outside to check lol.  Said it was so loud in the store she couldn’t hear people talking to her.

Edit- and now she just texted to say power just went out.  I’m 8 miles away I see sunny skies after 0.40” earlier.

i was there (and left) about 15 minutes before it started. no thanks on the ping pong ball sized hail.

just thunder and lightning here in Charles Town.

This storm has some violent lightning associated with it.

Do not like that. That storm back in July that had the violent lightning with it is what fried our garage door opener. We have a whole house surge protector on our panel but we think because my daughter was opening the door when the lightning was crazy is what did it.

Glad you made it home safely.  Seeing photos on social media of streets all around that end of town that are under water.

Miserable humidity is back. 81/72 at IAD.

The past few days with pleasant dewpoints I wasn't bitten by a single mosquito, now with the nastiness back I'm just getting eaten up by them. Does humidity really make a difference in skeeter activity?

I don't think so. The mosquitos that are around now are the invasive Asian Tigers. They only bite during the day and can continue to breed in the tiniest amount of standing water. If it stays warm those bastards will be around into October.

Do these leave bite bumps?  Something keeps eating my ass up outside, but it doesn't leave the telltale bumps.  It stings a bit and itches for a bit.

That's them. They are very small and intensely itch but it doesnt last long and doesnt leave a welt on most people. Different experience for those who have sensitive skin/ skin disorders.

Going to try a fishing trip to Lake America soon. Not sure if they’ll be a svr threat but my fishing tent could prob handle an inch of hail or so. Going to be amazing either way

I’ve been getting lit up lately lol. It’s the humidity. The bugs weren’t like this the last few summers when we were essentially living in a steppe climate.
