Might be bitternut hickory? We’ve had a bunch of those dropping out in the back usually starting around mid summer and going right through early fall. I always see squirrels and deer gobbling up the little nuggets at the odd ends of the day. Plus they hurt like hell if you’ve ever happen to stumble on one of those!

No these are medium sized acorns. Coming off the Red Oaks .

Oh ok gotcha. Hopefully it’s not a bad omen when it comes to drought or stress on the tree it came from.

Both BOX and okx radars are picking up on something over the ocean and moving in all directions.. birds? Not sure how to post a loop on here

Some summers they do do start early . Some years they stop as fall arrives. And others all hell breaks loose

Looks like pignut. I personally don't like this stuff. It doesn't split. If they grow straight they're actually a beautiful tree. Bright yellow in the fall.
