Freezing fog/mist since yesterday. Trees coated pretty good with surfaces having a thin coat. Temps are to rise into the upper 30's today, but we'll see. Hopefully that will be the case before any rain falls. Power blinking for a short time early this morning.

Was able to get a measure of ice at 1/16" with the trees having a little more. Ugly stuff but picturesque. Lost power for a little more than a 1/2 hr, too, just a bit ago.

It's police scanner traffic so take it with a grain of salt, but a house may have just been hit with a tornado (or downburst) in Cass Co. MI.

There is a cc drop on the cell that is now tor warned after the fact.

Based on the high helicity environment right on the warm front and the broad rotation I thought it was working up to something 20 minutes ago.

Thought this was wild from the other day. 3 deer floating on the ice between Detroit and Windsor.

The beginning of a series of rains has commenced. TWN has me at 19C/68F for Sat which would be seriously impressive with the snowpack and amt of ice on the lakes. I say 5% chance of verifying. WUN has 15C - I'll go with 16C prediction. If I somehow get to 20C (2%) that would be the 2nd earliest in modern records just 1 day behind Mar 8 2000 and 3 days ahead of Mar 4 2024.

Storms are on tap during nox (overnight) with the temp rapidly rising to 13C. I'll be taking them seriously; my worst storms are now in early spring.

The lakes are shrouded in fog coming off the ice. At this rate the urban lakes will be ice free in a week or so. 
 

So far we’ve picked up under a 1/10” of rain. Far cry from the 0.50-1.00” totals advertised a few days ago.

Finished with a nice 1.10" from this morning.  Nice soaker.

May get a little more later tonight but looks like the 2nd round will die off mostly before reaching the QCA.

TWN adjusted Sat's high to 16C . The 'storms' came through earlier than expected; got 3-4 flashes with one flickering 15 times among the wimps.

Fog was significant here the previous two nights.

Had an extended period of 1/8SM at ORD on Wednesday night and Thursday night.
