i hope so too, we deserve some of the action over here. i've lived out there/spend a lot of time there/relocating there again and the weird part is heat events like this usually aren't that common, you'll typically see this with santa ana winds, but this event seems to lack the classic desert wind induced madness so im excited to see what its like out there with the heat and little to no wind. 

for those that don't know, the santa ana winds in southern california can actually mess with your head pretty bad. restlessness, insomnia, increased anxiety. im still not sure if its placebo or if the rumor that the desert spores make you go nuts is true but i can attest that every santa ana wind/heat event i've experienced out there makes it so hard to fall asleep, even if the room your sleeping in is a cold temperature

A small piece for Saturday into Sunday but the 80° warmth should stay to our south.

The crisis out west continues. As I sit in SLC, which received 3 inches of snow this year and is expecting more AN temps this week, a realization that a crisis is coming to the Colorado River this summer that we havent seen before.

 

It looks like winter at Brighton, but you have to get above 7000 feet to get snow cover…and even then it is a fraction of normal.

most models are not going to pick up on any potential storms until a few days at most before the potential - a few cold air outbreaks on the table but the southern stream is not that active so its going to have to be clipper type systems that take a more southern route with a perfect track and then possibly redevelop along the coast south of us when the cold enough air is in place and preferably a strong HP in southeast Canada with blocking- less than a 50/50 chance of that happening here at the moment IMO.

The wildfire season is going to be out of control especially if  above average heat/wind are present all summer

Cold day 34 here in midtown! Not loving the cold, if it's not going to snow anymore I want warm weather

Two day event total here was 1.33".  Trace of snow on the deck this morning.  Didn't see it fall but per radar the rain ended as a brief period of light snow or flurries overnight.  Winds howled from late afternoon yesterday right up until daybreak.

Sad to hear about the passing of Roger Smith who posted in this forum.  Always seemed like a gentleman and a knowledgable guy.  As someone pointed out he posted up until the day of his passing.  

We never know when we or someone we love will see their last sunrise or sunset.  Embrace the day.

I was outside at the tail end and saw the flurries here. 

He was a solid poster, always thorough and professional. It's amazing that he posted right to the end and there was no indication of a problem. RIP Roger Smith

The NAO and AO this morning are forecasted to stay positive after showing it possibly going negative a few days ago.

Any hope for winter weather in the east south of New England looks to be finished. 

There will be some brief cold shots but not dramatic.

Definitely agree with you there. I'd even take 80 and sunny. Or 90 and sunny. But none of these wild temperature swings we've had the last week. I don't want it to be in the 90s one day and the 50s the very next day. If I wanted that type of weather, I could move to Nebraska.
