I've seen 3-9 PM in AFDs and the scenario below has this around the 3 PM time. Have a 4 PM flight out of ORD and looking like I should try to move it closer to Noon if I can. Has the forecast of the front passage changed recently?

Just more horseshit up this way followed by a few more days of winter so haven’t given it much of a look.

Will be keeping a close eye on radar so maybe I can get out of Dodge before the storms get here for a back yard chase, but will try to stay out from under any stones. Will have the wife with me who hates to chase, but she will be recruited if need be. lol
OrdIowPitMsp
Saw my first flash of lightning of 2026 driving into work this morning. Storm missed me to the north.

cyclone77
Hopefully the prefrontal precip shown on some of the models for Tue morning pans out, as it looks like the late day convection will be another miss southeast. Luckily a nice wet system looks to be on the way for Thursday.

I don’t recall any thundersnow this year around here. There was an ordinary rainy thunderstorm during the early January thaw here (don’t remember the date). That was the first here. March 6 and 10 were probably the most lightning strikes I have ever seen that early. The March 10 hail storm was better than anything in June or July the last few years. That sucker was strobing. Tuesday afternoon could be ripe for large hail in the south central part of the state if a fresh EML advects in before the cold front. Tornado threat is contingent on local boundaries as usual. It’s foolish to completely rule out naders this time of year. Then again, it could be a complete miss south if there’s a lot of daytime crapvection outflow.
