Mo Snow
2 minutes ago, Freezing Drizzle said: Me too. Staten Island forecasts verify more often, over the years, versus Mt. Holly, which seems to lump me in with the area south of me. I'm actually a few hundred yards from the boundary of the two offices. Can't blame Mt. Holly honestly. Just how the counties are set up. Middlesex county is quite large and our towns are tucked in the very NE corner next to staten island. The other corner of Middlesex county borders Princeton!
dseagull
1 minute ago, Roger Smith said: You can only imagine how intense this will be when the coastal starts bombing out, the upper support is hours away from phasing even now. 500 mb low is over WV, 700 mb central VA to w/c PA. I can't see any process by which this retracts the development south so it's virtually at the doorstep now. The usual rule seems to be that maximum snow bands are always a bit further north than models anticipate. All high end forecasts are probably in play here but I just wonder if it's going to zoom past eventually which will cut down on the most aggressive forecast totals. The contest consensus values are in the range of 19 to 23 inches like the NWS forecasts. A few are closer to the 25 to 30 inch range, and a few are more conservative in the 12 to 16 range. Wind just ramped up 10 minutes ago on barnegat bay. Dumping good now with heavy paste.

Roger Smith
@dseagull I saw that location and wondered if you were on the barrier island or the mainland? You are going to see quite a storm unfold there. I posted somewhere that a max snowfall depth of 30-36 inches could verify in central NJ, Freehold to Sayreville would be my guess as to where, possibly extending south towards Mt Holly. Winds likely to increase rapidly next three hours and peak around 8 pm to midnight.

RU848789
So, as of 4 pm, we have 1/2" of new snow on the ground and the snow is just starting to accumulate on paved surfaces as temps are now down to 31F, so road conditions will start deteriorating quickly now. 3

I'm not too far away as the crow flies in NE Sussex county. It has been snowing lightly since 5:30 am. Hasn't amounted to much. But hasn't stopped. I’m on north shore of Nassau on Long Island and schools are already cancelled for tomorrow. Would be the case if 8” or 18” fall. The high or low busts will determine if Tuesday school is cancelled. Will be a nice storm for most. Would just enjoy. .

wthrmn654
.KEY MESSAGE 2... Strengthening E-NE winds today into tonight could produce a surge of 2.5-3.5 ft, producing widespread moderate to locally major coastal flooding along the back bays of western Suffolk and srn Nassau, Peconic Bay, and western Long Island Sound, and widespread minor to locally moderate flooding in NY Harbor and Jamaica Bay, the lower Hudson River, and ern Long Island Sound. The main high tide cycle of concern is Sunday night. Areas of dune erosion are likely, with localized overwashes possible along the ocean beachfront Sunday night into Monday morning. Additional coastal flooding will likely linger into the Monday afternoon high tide cycle, with a strong northerly flow limiting impacts somewhat to minor/locally moderate categories. .KEY MESSAGE 3...
