There's some confusing/ misleading stats going around but the last time nyc had a blizzard warning was 2017... long island i do believe was 2022.

3/14/17 was NYC’s last blizzard warning, and also when I saw 27” in 15 hours including 8” in about 90 minutes late that morning.

I believe it was 60 about 2 days before.

Just want to say…it’s been a pleasure tracking this one with all of you. Tracking (and NAM’ing) is one of my favorite parts of the storm experience. When we’re all shoveling and annoyingly digging out, I’ll remember the fun of the tracking!

No matter what the outcome I can't remember a storm lurking on these boards that had such a short anticipation time and no "oh here we go" bad runs/trends rollercoaster.  its just been.. out of no where Bomb and then a chorus of models crescendoing (is that a word?) every run . stress free

it was a false alarm for nyc and immediate suburbs, many of which saw mostly sleet to rain. and its why a lot people think the same will happen here. worse, they didn't drop the warning once it became clear it wasn't gonna pan out, because they thought too many people would go out in the sleet and get hurt. they even mentioned this later on when they had so much egg on their faces you could make an omelette for a family.....

Also, again no matter what the outcome,  for the next 30 years, the optimistic folks who like to say in the darkest hour of a dying threat  "hey, sometimes all the models lose the storm and then bring it back" now have a great example to point to.  "Well, remember back in 2026.."

As someone I know said after visiting Home Depot today, "It's as if we're in spring.  you'd have no idea there was a storm coming" because they have absolutely nothing left.

there was nothing a month ago. if it snows in december, forget it. i'm just hoping my snow blower holds up with its shaky tire; a month ago i could not get it repaired in a timely fashion; it froze during the last storm and didn't work at all. once it warmed up it was working again.

people say you should not wait til the storm ends to clean....but you can't operate a snow blower in most towns before 8 am....

Screw that I'll run my commercial 2009 ariens track drive monster at midnight full bore if I have to lol

On top of,

I'm a first responder and have to leave at a given moments notice, have done that before during severe storms...

What are they going to do? Call the police? Driveways need to be clear.
