Schools  start back up Monday for most as winter breaks ending, Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning warnings will be flying again

Thats only in certain districts - I think Don would have more info on exacly what time frame closer to a storm onset NWS policy is too issue them so they are sure each requirement is going to be met for which area(s)

Believe this or not…I got referred to this forum from another dude from a NY Jets message board of all places…you guys nailed Sandy from the beginning and I started lurking on the regular after that. 
 

Lurked until Isaias when I officially became a member (literally lurked almost a decade) and now I still keep the talking mostly to people who know more than me (no matter what some poster’s biases’ may or may not be). Because as much of a geek my family, friends and co-workers think I am…I got NOTHING on like 98% of you. 
 

Still…I never thought my biggest kicks on this board would be you all living and dying with each model output and then declaring a model great or crap depending on what bias you do have. It’s fantastic and speaking for myself it’s utterly enthralling (and occassionally hilarious).

Warning/Advisory

Warnings and Advisories are issued up to 48 hours in advance with forecaster confidence of at least 80%.

Watches are usually issued 48 hours in advance (sometimes 72 hours if confidence is high); warnings are issued when an event is ongoing or imminent (usually 24 hours or less from the event).
