Yup, I had the backdoor open before the squall arrived and could hear the roar of the wind approaching. Classic low-topped squall line. 

The power went out at my house for about 2.5 hours. Power flashes- winds at hurricane force. Have not seen straight lines winds like that since Sandy. The low top squall line sounded like a freight train before hit -  reminded of the tornados back in the 1980's in the MId-South. Over 28,000 residents without power at 11 pm in Lehigh County at one time. I spent 35 minutes just picking up tree limbs around the house that I could see. It was sleeting and snowing when I was cleaning but has now stopped. The power flashes was the dominoe effect from the fuses blowing all at the same time after talking to PPL guys near  my house.

Didn't witness the pencil, but it seems to have brought a 46 mph gust.  Plus, a cliff of a temperature drop in it's wake.

I just want to add to the conversation over yesterday’s event and the very poor job of messaging for this event. Tornado watches were cancelled by 6 pm so he had thought he was in the clear and ended up getting caught out in that awful squall line because he and many others out last night other assumed the worst was over. I have no idea why we didn’t transfer into a severe thunderstorm watch. SPC did a terrible job all around yesterday imo they overplayed the tornado threat and downplayed the wind threat after the tornado threat failed. NWS did great getting the warnings out in a timely matter but I still think people were not anticipating the strength of that line last night.

Could be wrong but I think we were (Thunderstorm warning)  till 11pm last night?

Total 180 from yesterday, chilly and gusty out there...

Breezy and unseasonably cold weather today with some snow flurries possible this afternoon into the evening. There will be a hard freeze tonight so protect any plants that you may have put outside already. We will continue with below normal temperatures through Thursday (upper 30's to upper 40's) before we moderate to nearly normal both Friday and Saturday (low to mid 50's). Our next chance of rain or snow looks to possibly arrive on Friday night. We will fall back to below normal temperatures by next Monday.

Yes, severe thunderstorm warnings were issued as the front approached and we were also under a wind advisory until 2am. 

But again, I think because local news made such a big deal about it (and understandably so, cause the threat was real), most people let their guard down around sunset because not much had happened by then.

Of course, us weenies knew until the front came through later last night, we weren't off the hook.
