NCBlizzard
Slowly transitioning to predominantly freezing rain in Belmont. The heavy sleet has actually been really cool and unique to just stand outside in. kvegas-wx
Ok folks, I think we now have reasonable assurances that we won't end up with a catostrophic ice event anywhere in our forum. A few power outages, sure. But we really dodged some cannonball sized bullets here. Even if there is ZR leftover the amounts should be nuisance at best. Take a breath, relax, cook some good food for dinner and enjoy your sleet. Looks like Old Man Winter has some tricks in store again soon. This wedge will have novels written about it. Unreal. 15

NEGA_Dawg
Question: It looks like we are going to get a steady light rain the rest of the way. It shows it all ending around 6:30. Its now 30 degees and I was wondering how much glaze could possibly form in the next 1.5 hours? Its been a while since we have had freezing rain in my area. NEGa
The back edge is almost here! Ended up getting zr all afternoon (I think the hrrr showed this?) about .4” ice on top of the sleet from last night. Power has managed to stay on here - a lot in the county are out

USCG RS
2 hours ago, tarheelwx said: I think some of us old timers here in NC saw the writing on the wall last night - light precip. Dry slot, final “band” likely to underperform. I think it’s a bust for those that didn’t factor in the dry slot and lower qpf. The cold air and CAD was simply a matter of sleet vs ZR and we all know how that often shakes out with anonymously cold air. Hat off to the NAM on the dry slot. As for the cold and ptypes, seasoned Mets should have know. TW So at this point I'll concede (mostly happily) that I was wrong. This line is basically through... And as others more experienced in this region have been predicting - these lines do not make storm. Looks like we may not even reach technical ice storm criteria. Unless this storm pulls a proverbial rabbit out of its hat, we dodged a massive bullet. (Now that I've said this, an ice nado will somehow develop over the Upstate).

Snow dog
Looks like it’s winding down here. Maybe another 30 mins or so of light rain. Trees definitely have ice in them, but doesn’t appear to be too much. The last worry is the winds that are expected early in the morning- that could still bring down limbs and power lines…
kvegas-wx
One hour of Fernie left. This chick definitely got the best of us and overstayed her welcome. Definitely getting foggy as the humidity shoots up.
