Currently 24.6 up on wardens ridge between dunlap and soddy. Strangley enough we warmed up 5 degrees from 4-430 am then dropped back to 24 quickly
Mostly sleet but every now and then we get a burst of snow.
Sure looking like we will get a decent icing soon, hoping the impacts are not catastrophic over a large area. We would be a low priority to getting power back.
I have a generator hooked to 500 gallon propane tank but we have had a lot of Californian's build dream houses around us this year and not one of them have planned it appears.

Beautiful. We've been gradually working on getting out land cleared on Window Rock Rd. I'm eyeballing an area on the brow to level for a possible weekend camper until we decide to build. I'm anxiously awaiting for Travis to get the license for approval for the diner and pizza oven fired up at Rolling Oaks. I might look at his Facebook page for an update.

My buddy from the pics above is a little east of Jackson. FYI…. He sent me a video and the snow was falling like it’s high ratio stuff. Very fine but falling heavy

Oh wow! Is that the place right off 111/Lewis chapel? We've wondered if that is ever open

Great place to be, kinda incredible the develope and gentrification going on. 4 years ago i had 2 neighbors within 1/2 mile of me.

Now it's more like 20 lol, thankfully we have a large heavily forested lot so kinda still get the privacy.

Hit me up if you ever have any questions! looking for a buddy to try some weather forecating via hang-gliding with haha

Yes @Knoxtron that's the line, but keep in mind it's aloft. Surface manifestation can vary. Also with ice it's not a clear rain/snow line. Otherwise all snow north of it right now. Mixed variations of pain south of it.

My driveway in east Chattanooga mostly thawed thanx to apparently enough solar radiation coming through the clouds. Temp is 30. Couple hours ago I thought my glacier of the week had started. Plenty more frozen precip is incoming though.

BTW is this gonna be the obs thread? We have a pinned forecast thread.

Wow I'm at 26.6. That temp has just slowly dropped all morning as the column saturates.

i have 25 dBZ over my house and not a flake reaching the ground in West Knoxville.  Just had to do an edit just saw a single flake.
It takes a little bit. I've got a dusting now on the Roane/Meigs line area.

Yes. Driving north on 111. Exit Lewis Chapel. Left over 111 and turn left down the steep hill. It's pretty impressive in person. Great little general store stocked full of all varieties of liquor he makes on site. He's built everything by hand, has a saw mill on site, used his own trees for building everything. Had a kimb to dry his wood. Fresh baked breads and desserts daily.

   Mesoscale Discussion 0043
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0853 AM CST Sat Jan 24 2026

   Areas affected...northeast TX...southern AR...northern LA...western
   MS

   Concerning...Winter mixed precipitation

   Valid 241453Z - 242000Z

SUMMARY...Moderate to heavy freezing rain and sleet are expected to
persist across the Ark-La-Tex to Ark-La-Miss regions into early
afternoon. Liquid-equivalent precipitation rates of a tenth to
quarter-inch per hour should be common, locally up to a half-inch
   per hour.

DISCUSSION...A swath of moderate to heavy mixed precipitation is
ongoing across east TX and the Ark-La-Tex. Surface observations
confirm hourly precipitation rates of .10-.25 in/hr are common, up
to around .50 in/hr. 12Z guidance is rather consistent in indicating
this swath of precip persisting through at least early afternoon,
gradually shifting east-northeast amid rather pronounced low-level
warm theta-e advection. A classic freezing rain to sleet sounding
was sampled at 12Z in SHV. This type of thermodynamic profile should
continue to steadily push southward in northern LA. Farther east,
the surface freezing line should only drift to nearly stall across
western MS into the early afternoon.

Which model is doing best currently? Per the NAM, no one east of the Plateau should have any accumulation at this point and Memphis should have switched from snow to sleet hours ago.

It’s now Mostly sleet here in Hardeman county 60 miles north west of Memphis with snow mixing in at times.  Around 2-3” on the ground so far

21 degrees, virga overhead, dp 7.

That's what I'm afraid is going to cut our Snow Totals down man. Virga. It'll be our luck that precip won't start reaching the ground until the warmer air is aloft. If we can get some heavy bands move over then the flakes will make it on down and help saturate the Column.

  • Mr Bob pinned this topic

I've been in a lull for a while here on the Meigs/Roane line for the last hour or so after getting a dusting of snow earlier. Now in the lull with no real returns over me I'm now getting light sleet mixed with freezing drizzle. Wondering what happens as heavier returns move back in in the next 20 min or so. Temp stable at 26 for the last few hours.
