Just got in from shoveling a 3rd time, but this was the 2" of mostly sleet that have fallen since around 1 pm (6" worth of 10:1 snow by mass) and it was tough.  So, between 3 and 5 pm we got 1" of pure sleet giving us 2" since 1 pm, when we had 8.3", so we're now at 10.3" of sleet/snow, besting my 10.1" guess.  It's up to 17F and hoping no ZR in the last 0.4-0.5 QPF the HRRR says we'll get (mostly sleet) by midnight, but the HRRR is showing 0.1" ZR.  What a storm!

As of 6 pm, we've gotten 2.5" of mostly sleet since 1 pm (1/2" the past hour, which is 1.5" worth of snow as we've been under an intense band); that brings our total up to 10.8" of snow/sleet and we have a shot at a foot. 17F.

17.6f humidity 95% dew point 16f

Moderate Sleet 95% maybe 5% ZR just picking up on a slight glaze on the cars the windows are frosted white.

Hard to measure but I would say we had:

8-9" of snow

2.5" of sleet

Totals Snow and Sleet: 11" sounds about right to me

Shoveled at 9:30 and 2 pm will go out when the storm ends.

Where it is just sleeting accumulation, it is a total glacier, and it is very heavy be careful while shoveling.

Total snow / sleet on the year: 25.7" (plenty of time to add more too it is only January 25th)

Most of us in SE PA will be above average for the entire season after this storm, can’t beat that before historically our snowiest month.

True but sucks we're going to waste this entire week of <32f temps...

Check the 18z euro… next weekend isn’t over by a long shot

Believe it or not, I say bring it. After today let's get historical. Let's put a solid 4ft snowpack on the ground. I've never seen it and now kind of want to.

HRRR had temps above freezing for right now for me and it’s currently 16 F still. Definitely was too aggressive eroding the low level cold.

The HRRR has a warm bias at the surface but a cold bias in the mid levels. Sounds weird but that’s been something I’ve noticed with it over the years.

Still sleeting here and it is piling up.  I had to get the shovel to push it away from the door (we have a service that does the lots and walks, etc here but they abandoned ship for now ).  Currently 17, which is actually my high for the day so far (after an 11 low), with a dp that has been gradually increasing and now up to 15.

At 645pm I reported to the NWS another 0.8" of sleet which brings our total snow/sleet total so far today to 12.4" - this is the 12th snowstorm here in Chester County to exceed 12 inches since 2000.

So when we are adding sleet to our totals for the day, do you just measure the depth 1:1?

Hey Steve...if adding sleet yes it is a simple add in inches to the previous snow total. Reported depth is even if compacted a bit with sleet density the actual inches. Not sure that was your question but....let me know.

About to be dry slotted, and that's perfectly OK after today's events. It looks awesome outside. I'm sorry for anyone who has to venture out in this tonight or tomorrow though. Stay safe, everyone.

See that in central PA moving this way and agree about any travel.  This will be a bear to clear.
