I went to 4 different spots last night and couldn't find any. Ended up settling for pool salt at wal-mart(it does the same thing, just not as concentrated). 20 lb bag for like 9 bucks

Hear there is a salt shortage this go round to at least in honeybrook/coatesville area.

You guys are weather ppl. How do you not have ice melt going into winter or at least 5 days ago seeing this on guidance, whether real or mirage?

Stocked up on ice melt 3 weeks ago. And for good measure, hit the grocery store Monday. Scrambling last minute is for the birds. Rookies :P:hurrbear:

Now I have to tell family members forget about 15" snow and they won't believe it lol

Whereas my crew is saying I was the only one mentioning mix Tuesday pm and giving premature props for a conservative outlook. On the other hand, if this does trend colder/snowier, then Im a clown :clown:

In northern Lehigh county, drifting is  a huge deal. Urbanized areas,  basically no issue. Many of the posters don ot even know where Lowhill Township is in Lehigh County. South mountain  topgraphically is the cutoff for sleet in this storm

I am in open field country in Lehigh County, in North Whitehall Township, and yes we get a lot of drifting up here. Good luck to all with the impending storm !!!

I would really not be worrying at all about freezing rain in this system, outside of some freezing drizzle as the storm departs and we get the dry slot. When you look at the soundings, there's a barely above freezing warm nose at 750-700mb. Sleet will be the concern if we flip. I think some of the website model algorithms are off.

Could this be a case where you flip between snow and sleet depending on how heavy precipitation is? Or once you go to sleet that’s it?

Looking at some of the soundings, I just really question that would be freezing rain honestly. I don't see it. Temps are like 18-19F for most of the area and even the warmest levels are just barely above 0c,they aren't scorching. Looks more like sleet in my opinion.

Truth!

The weenie in me wants 20+ inches. :snowing:

The old man in me doesn't want to shovel more than 4". :oldman:

This will be the light/easy stuff unless sleet/FZ covers. Much more fun and enjoyable. May even be able to partake in a couple while shoveling...

Absolutely, if we get heavy enough precip we could see that sleet line crash south at times. Though it depends on how potent that warm nose really is. Will be very interesting watching correlation coefficient radar for that Sunday.

Dude do you have any idea what they are smoking? Like I’ll take it but do they just think we snow ourselves out before mix at very end? They 14” line down to South Jersey is just comical lol and these are the “pros”

What is your best guess for snow accumulations for Berks County? Do you expect it to flip to sleet at all? Sorry if I missed a recent post about it

I remember it well! I was in KOP at the time....21 degrees with heavy ZR

That was a glorious winter to be a Penn State main campus student. State College had their seasonal snow record that year. The rain snow line seemed to set up around Harrisburg for many events.
