Dry air is crushing us now in Albemarle. Pixie dust at this point. DP has dropped from 21 to 16 in the last 90 minutes.

3kNAM says we're about done. HRRR hints at another burst of precip in the next hour or so

I was looking at radar optimistic we had a couple more hours of good snowfall but you're right where its now started to decrease rates even further.

Yep, even down this way flake size has decreased most of the afternoon. Right now it is POURING snow, but flakes range from pixie to eraser end size. Still, snow is snow. Down two degrees in 30 minutes, currently 26.1/23.4 with a NNE wind 7 gusting 14 mph.

Pixie dust here as well. I wonder if this precip ends up making it east. The models seem to say some of it does but if not most of Central VA is probably close to all done

All the reporting stations inside that circle are reporting either snow or light snow with .5 to 2 mile visibility, so THAT is reaching the ground. The question becomes can it cross over the mountains AND survive the drying atmosphere on this side of the mountains. I guess we shall find out over the next couple of hours. I can't remember which model showed it, but the precip is starting to 'split' like shown on that model yesterday, kudos.

Still snowing here. I'll go with 3.5" for me. Might have hit 4 but the early compaction is what it is and I'm conservative with my measurements. Still snowing so maybe 4" is in the cards.

This was such an awesome event. Snowed continuously from 7:30am past sunset. Cold north wind and dropping temps all day. Snow blowing off the eaves and trees. Dark grey sky when it did lighten up at times. True deep winter vibe and that doesn't come easy down this way. Very thankful for the good luck even though my friends north of me couldn't share this one. Tables will turn soon enough and I'll be on the outside looking in lol. I'm pretty satisfied for a while.

Steady light snow again in Charlottesville the past ~45 mins, bordering on moderate now. Best looking flakes we've had all day imo. DP popped back up to 21 after bottoming out at 14 around 4:30.

25/21

At UVA we’ve been in a nice band since 5:30 and added on maybe 1/2 an inch or more of fluffy snow to the 2 inches I measured at 4:30

Well, although the radar returns have decreased in last hour plus, I still have a decent light snow falling .

Cleared the board for 7 pm reading, 1.8 inches. Adding the 0.5 at 7 am, the 2.8 at 1 pm and the 1.8 at 7 pm gives me a 5.1 inch event total, 0.5 for yesterday and 4.6 for today. There are 4.5 inches on the ground. A bit of an overachiever, forecast was 2-4 inches. Temp continues to drop, now 23.2/21.8.

Finally getting the high ratios some models advertised. Returns have been pretty light, but could have easily picked up an extra half inch or a bit more in the past two hours. It's very pretty, fluffy light snow. It has been snowing, albeit fairly lightly at times, for almost 14 hours now.

Very nice !  Is that two 5” snowfalls for you in the past week ?  In early December ?  Awesome.

I’ve had two 5”+ storms total in the past 4 winters on this end of I-81.

Yep, I seem to be in the 'sweet spot', at least for now, lol. It is still lightly snowing with 10dbz returns overhead? Amazing.
