November of ‘12, didn’t December of ‘13 have some frigid snows?, November of ‘18, December of ‘19(a real biggy for Ray), December of ‘20(a biggy here)..so we’ve had them. Dec '13 into '14. That was the one time I remember such consistent cold and snow at the same time. We had a ton of outdoor work that winter, love hate on that one!
Cold Miser
It's only mid to late November and we're already talking about days of yore. Man, it's gonna be a long season.
WinterWolf
19 minutes ago, UnitedWx said: This. Some years there was quite a bit before January 1st, and others maybe a few flurries. In my head I just never expect any real winter to get rolling before Christmas. As DIT says it does happen, but it's the exception for sure down here. I don't ever remember having snow on Thanksgiving, and having it last for any large stretch of time. I said it does happen and sometimes it doesn’t…it’s just how it works. He thinks that it’s definitely supposed to happen…that isn’t true at all. That’s where he is misled, and in dreamland on that. 1
jsw
Now 17F/15F, clear as a bell. We'll have to let it warm up a few degrees before our house-painting contract begins today...brrr!

dendrite
CON 18° The alternative is a 5kt wind and a temp like 28° at PSM. I think the 18° cuts through you a little more.

Anything measurable? 2”+? 4”+?
dendrite
I’m not sure what the good, long-term snow COOPs are in CT, but here’s Danbury for 2”+. Maybe it’s gotten a little later, but a day per decade isn’t that big of a deal. That’s not too bad considering the background fall warming. It may look a lot different if I change it to 1” or 4” too.

Very light, dime sized flakes falling at the moment. weatherwiz
catching up on late afternoon. What is the definition people are using when it comes to wire-to-wire. I thought it was referring to getting slammed in back-to-back winters, but is that not the case?

I thought it was referring to getting slammed in back-to-back winters, but is that not the case? Basically consistent winter from beginning to end. No major breaks. I’m not sure how you’d define that down there. Up here it’s a little easier to do if you base it on snow pack streaks. Like going DJFM with at least some X value of pack. We have the ability to minimize nasty cutters here like in 07-08.
