It didn't latch on to proper placement/strength until about 84 hours out, after being more correct in the 5-7 day range than 3-4. A few days ago I was thinking all snow above I-85 and while that doesn't look likely now, it still wouldn't totally shock me. I believe the next 48 hours in the modeling are going to offer up a few surprises. What a strange setup all of this is. Might as well enjoy the ride y'all! Just looked at the NWS forecast for Asheville and saw this: Saturday Night Snow and freezing rain before 8pm, then freezing rain between 8pm and 4am, then freezing rain and sleet after 4am. Low around 18. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Sunday Freezing rain before 1pm Then add wind. This is starting to remind me of Helene. What is the worst case scenario; mother nature says lets do it.
