3 inches of snow to a lot of sleet and freezing rain here in Avery. We unfortunately (in CAD) situations stay very cold. Oftentimes we are 20 degrees colder than Asheville. Changeovers to rain are frequently predicted but rarely come to fruition. We are blocked in by 5-6000 foot peaks on all sides.

It is Wednesday and this thing is trending slower. I think the main callout here should be what was in the GSP's WSW re: ICE. And be prepared for that scenario.

I don't have enough fingers to count how many times things have gone north or south 3-4 days out.

We all went through Helene and that 10000% taught me to never have my guard down and to be prepared for anything no matter what.

The good or bad thing about local climates.

At least if it rains we don't lose power. Ill just head to the casino and drink and play craps. Would have loved the foot plus with sleet. Ill pass on the freezing

Does Cherokee  stay open throughout the storm durations?  I know Bristol Hardrock opens but has a hard time staffing.

Yes. They stayed open when Helene hit. Only time I have seen them close was during covid

Less than 72 hours before the event, I honestly don't think I will be surprised whatever the outcome is. A few days ago I was thinking all snow above I-85 and while that doesn't look likely now, it still wouldn't totally shock me.

I believe the next 48 hours in the modeling are going to offer up a few surprises. What a strange setup all of this is. Might as well enjoy the ride y'all!

Also, I think one thing that is getting looked over is the wind gusts.

An ice storm + wind. I mean, we all know.

If this low is going to crank either way.

That wind could bump us from a 2 to a 4 or even worse.
