It has been 2.5 weeks without rain.  The lawns have de-greened quite a bit.  We could use a good soak again.

We only had 2" in August here.  Slight chance tomorrow, but overall looks really dry through at least mid September.

Hopefully we get blasted with 5"+ from some remnants in the 2nd half of the month.

There’s an outside chance Minnesota sees it’s earliest accumulating snow on record. September 14th 1964 0.3” fell at International Falls, so if anything accumulates the record will be shattered.

Back in the mid 90's, I was working at a sawmill, and we had flakes flying here in TH during the last week of Sept. That also heralded a rather cold winter. Not saying this would portend that, but definitely a cold start to Fall. Quote from DLH forecast discussion:

The second
cold front will bring a slightly more organized and persistent
area of rain showers southeastward through the Northland today.
Additional showers are likely behind that front as well this
afternoon into tonight. As temperatures fall overnight, showers
may become a mix of rain and snow. A thin coating of snow may
survive through sunrise before melting shortly thereafter. Frost
is possible overnight into Thursday morning, though clear skies
and calm winds would likely be required.

GFS wants to ease the dry conditions bringing the remnants of a tropical system up the the lower great lakes region.  Would certainly help out with the drought in the Ohio region assuming the fantasy land GFS is at all accurate.

Euro says what tropical system.  It will be interesting to watch this play out.

This is an interesting random fact. Assuming we dont hit 90F this September, it will be the 7th consecutive September without hitting 90F at Detroit. That has never happened before in the climate record (the previous longest was 6 consecutive years, 1875-1880). The last time DTW hit 90 in Sept was Sept 5, 2018.
