Flash Flood Warning
National Weather Service New York NY
610 PM EDT Mon Jul 14 2025

The National Weather Service in Upton has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Northeastern Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey... Rockland County in southeastern New York... Central Westchester County in southeastern New York...

* Until 800 PM EDT.

* At 610 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

 HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms    producing flash flooding.

 SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

 IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,    urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... New City, Ossining, Monsey, Nanuet, Ramsey, Tarrytown, Suffern, Nyack, Tappan, Pearl River, Hawthorne, Orangeburg, Upper Nyack, Spring Valley, Valley Cottage, Park Ridge, Airmont, Congers, Upper Saddle River and Chestnut Ridge.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

My road is flooded already. That hasn't happened in a long time. 2.30" of rain in a very short period of time. It's tapering off here now but as you said, the backbuilding is concerning. Hopefully we won't end up getting 4 to 5 inches of rain.

I think parts of Union must have that already

And with the backbuilding it's pouring here again. Unfortunately this is looking like it's gonna be an epic flooding event. That HRRR run from earlier in the afternoon that I pointed out (5 inches of rain for our area) is going to end up being right.

Looks quite threatening from near White Plains into ne NJ. 

Here's a 5" report embedded within 4" near White Plains. I know NWS doesn't use these amounts but if you check the RadarScope STP...its AT LEAST 5" in that area near White Plains.  Just an example.
