I don't really care about missing that...just edge everything north a bit in 6 months. With winters mainly gone you’ve got to find other exciting/ extreme weather to get your rocks off 5

CoastalWx
I will say when that back door came down last night, it was real cool watching the stuff blowup overhead. That’s what initiated the nasty line near and just south of me after 9pm. But it was developing right overhead.

Many areas lot of fog with FQT LTG last night. How often does that happen?

How often does that happen? I would say S Wey to GHG got mauled. Tons of ltg there. That’s sometimes how we do best. Those shallow, more like outflow boundaries moving south. I noticed a weak s/w with lots of MUCAPE last evening when hrrr was firing storms overnight. I think Ryan posted the 00z OKX sounding and it was loaded.

tamarack
2 hours ago, Torch Tiger said: Stein here. Those CC storms were common in the 80's and 90's, not sure what happened since. Days with thunder have been gradually declining here in recent years. The running 10-year avg was 16.1 after 2017, down to 12.7 after last year. And 2024 was a good year with 16, best since 2017 and adding 0.3 to the avg. Thru June 30 we're 4 days behind last year (2 vs. 6), and nothing yet in July.
