Avg doesn’t mean it can’t be cool nor does it mean it can’t be hot.

if the average temp is 23 and it’s 23 outside, it might be average, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s cold.

if the average temp is 99 and it’s 99 out, it might be average, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s hot.

68 isn't cold to me. It's basically room temp.  The wind is a bit chilly though, I'll give you that.

68 isn't bad by itself...but its a different feel when you have thick overcast and a breeze.

68 as a room temperature is comfortable, but sit in the room with a fan blowing on you and that 68 isn't going to be as comfortable anymore (though I get some people enjoy that).

Yeah I agree. In fairness it's p sunny here or at worst a bright overcast. Not dark or dank or anything, kinda dry and warm sun trying to poke through.

edit Sun's out now, nice day!

Not a bad Euro run all things considered ... and considering what that looked like in the guidance just a short few days ago.   The rather anachronistic Nor'easter is now timed earlier.  This has been trended so not very new... but nice to see the continuity.   Appears to be evacuated out of the region by late Friday...  Saturday is manageable cool pool towers and instability shower dappled about the country side.  But a decent day overall.  Sun/Mon are dry NW  d-slope flow days.  At this time of year that's a decent look.  I'm sure it mangle into some means to f-it all up but just as it looks for now.

I wish AWATT was correct, but the pattern looks awful. A rando semi warm day mixed in to a week of crud isn’t my idea of a nice late May pattern but to each their own.

I mean what are you looking at? A trough in the means doesn’t mean weeks of rain and cold . If the axis is west it can be humidity with fropas. If overhead it means weekends like MDW upcoming with sun/ cloud mix near over 70 What is the issue? There’s no cold in Canada with Arctic cut off . Unless you’re worried about being in NNE .

Dendrite didn’t say it’s weeks of rain and cold though?

Is that what crud means to you?  Coolish with clouds at times?

I feel like there’s a big misconception of what’s being said.

If anyone says it’s not a great pattern, it’s being interpreted as 44F and raining.

What’s the big hang up with saying it doesn’t look as good as it could on here in the warm season?

It’s like as soon as that’s uttered, a full scale PR & marketing effort starts to convince folks it’s going to be full summer until October now

Yeah we’ll DSD here and there and pull a couple of 70s, but it’s mostly tainted chill aloft dropping in from our N-NE, ULLs, and unsettled weather.

The pattern interpretation would be a little different if this was DJF.

Yeah that’s what I got out of the model runs.

It could be better.  Are folks relegated to being indoors for weeks on end?  No, they never will this time of year.  But it is not a great pattern.

It read he was envisioning chill and rains interspersed with one nice day . It’s not a deep summer look quite yet, but it looks near normal with no cold air to tap
