Virtually nothing is in even "near" or "minor" flood stage in our region, even with sustained rain over much of the day. Not like Floyd or severe storms where we got pounded w/4-6+" in a relatively short amount of time...hours. This is what we needed. All and all, good event. Yeah, last year I had 55.91 total liquid precip in the bucket (although that would include snow/IP melt as well). Mowed Fri and probably could use a cutting now but definitely in the next day or two. Neighbors (who didn't cut before the past 3 day rain) lawns are probably 6"+ and thick. The current radar indicates snow/rain mix near Hazleton but the NWS is even calling for thunder snow/mix in the point forecast for the Jim Thorpe area. Really unique. I hope this a tell tale sign for next winter. Today Showers likely, mainly between 10am and 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 46. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Tonight A chance of rain showers before 4am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. West wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Wednesday Rain likely, possibly mixed with snow showers before 8am, then rain showers. Some thunder is also possible. High near 48. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Would say it means nothing for next winter. Last year also featured an anamolous cold air mass late April and early May. Likely an artifact of the new warmer world regime with large cutoff troughs in spring. Hurricane Agnes Posted May 3, 2023 Author Share Posted May 3, 2023 Bottomed out at 42 this morning and made it up to 54 before some heavier clouds and light precip came (with 0.01" registered) to put a damper on things. My Wyndmoor sis texted a little over an hour ago that she was getting "sleet". I saw there were some reports in suburban Philly of hail so am thinking she either had tiny hail (less than pea size) or possible some graupel. In fact these 1st 3 days of May have been the coldest start to this month since 1945. It is the 3rd coldest start since 1894. Behind only 1945 and 1939. It looks like we have at least 2 more below normal days before warming to near normal by Saturday.
