Yep. And arent we like a week or two vehund Italy ? If so the worst should be over for us soon.

Week or two is a good guess for when the absolute worst should be on the whole for the nation.  There will likely be areas regionally/locally that lag behind that timeframe.  How we behave as we flatten the curve in various areas will be very important.  Already reports of crowds gathering in Manhattan per a member who is a NYC cop.

Gov. Evers issued an executive order pushing the Wisconsin election back to June 9th.  Great news as I was worried that in person voting tomorrow would cause a great deal of spread in the state

An estimated additional 180 - 195 deaths per day occurring at home in New York City due to COVID-19 are not being counted in the official figures. "Early on in this crisis we were able to swab people who died at home, and thus got a coronavirus reading. But those days are long gone. We simply don't have the testing capacity for the large numbers dying at home. Now only those few who had a test confirmation *before* dying are marked as victims of coronavirus on their death certificate. This almost certainly means we are undercounting the total number of victims of this pandemic," said Mark Levine, Chair of New York City Council health committee [source]

51 S.Korean COVID-19 patients retest positive after recovery

http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2020-04/06/c_138951383.htm

" The KCDC saw a higher possibility for the virus remaining in certain cells to be reactivated, rather than for people to be infected again, given that they retested positive in a relatively short period of time after being released from quarantine."

It looks more like false negatives rather than reinfection, thank god.

Raises questions about viral shedding and how long somebody is capable of being contagious.

Even today there were a significant amount of people out and about.

I really can't believe from a public health perspective that Wisconsin is going ahead with this election tomorrow.

In Ohio a court rejected a lawsuit to push back the election, and the director of public health then issued an order that superseded that.  Wonder if WI could do the same? That would be a fascinating legal exercise.  It’d also help slow the spread, get out of this sooner and save lives, which this decision seems to ignore completely.

That's what I said days ago.  They better figure it out quick.

Coming up on midnight the night before, the road is certainly narrow at this point.  It’s an infuriating decision, and sort of goes against all of the stay at home orders and business closures that have had such a profound impact already (on the spread, our daily lives and the economy)

My younger brother got the call for a liver/kidney transplant tonight. This will be his second transplant, had his first set of organs for 5 years before they started rejecting. When you hear about being the epitome of “high risk” when it comes to Covid, he is it. I found a bunch of old N95 masks in my toolbox and made sure they found their way to him. Since he has been on the list, he has already had 1 set of potential organs rejected by the surgeon due to potential COVID infection in the donor.

It is very morbid, but the surgeon was saying that organs are actually harder to come by right now than normal, as a large majority of people are staying home. As such, people are not getting into the fatal auto accidents, homicides, etc at rates which would be considered “normal”. Thus the individuals who are passing are the COVID patients or those who have a strong likelihood of the infection even though they have not been lab confirmed. The transplant doctors are not treating these people as suitable organs donors. So hopefully these test clean in the morning, and we can get my bro back on the path to recovery. But this is just another ripple effect of the virus that the general population would never consider.

Although I don’t know you as anything other than screen names; you are my weather family. If you find yourself with a spare moment, I would appreciate if you could toss one up to whatever higher power you subscribe to. Additionally, please sign up to be an organ donor.

It is an incredibly dangerous precedent for election standards. Don't be shocked if some absentee ballots magically disappear in November.

U.S. Supreme Court also overturned the extension to return WI absentee ballots to April 13th. Now they still have to be postmarked by tomorrow. Those who still haven't received theirs due to the massive backlog are SOL and have to vote in person if they want to vote.

I see some people (not necessarily on this thread, although I have seen it once or twice) still like to throw around "socialism" and "communism" as scarewords.

So, picture Chernobyl. Dr. Fauci is Valery Legasov and Boris Scherbina rolled into one. The rest of the Trump administration and the courts are Zharkov, Bryukhanov and Fomin.

Read where Milwaukee originally had over 100 polling places for this election....now reduced to 5 because of shortage of staff.  Inexusable attempt to take advantage of coronavirus to suppress the vote.  Tremendously long lines.

WI. Republicans are among the most craven and disgusting in all of America. City went from 180 polling locations to 5. counting on extremely low turnout and all the better if they can kill off a few POC in the process. That's been the GOP policy for decades

No excuse for what is going on in Wisconsin.  It's not a partisan thing... everybody no matter your leanings should be able to agree that now isn't the time to hold voting.  Going out to get food and necessities is essential.  Voting on April 7, 2020, is not.

Michigan with another bad day

1749 new cases

118 new deaths

US daily death tally now at 1522 and counting

Going to have a 2000 day, if not today then soon.  Although these daily counts are pretty prone to error in multiple ways.

Indiana had 34 "new" deaths since yesterday's update, but those 34 died over a number of days because the confirmation process is slow.
