Sometimes some of you need to step away from the keyboard. Several models showed this dry air from 7-11am and then when heavier precip moves in as the afternoon progresses that dry air disappears and the column goes frozen. Don’t call it a bust just yet.

Everything else aside, it's really cool that every county has some form of advisory, watch or warning for today. When is the last time that happened?

Slowly starting to pickup here. You can see the moisture overcoming the dry air in NGA and the NC/GA state line. Hopefully it starts hammering here soon.

Howdy neighbor, looked at a house there at your elevation but am just down The mountain from you in Balsam Forest. We look to be in a good spot for a Haywood maximum.

Hello - thought I would add to the reports.  I’m in Cruso, Haywood County at about 3200 feet.  Started flurrying about 1 1/2 hours ago but it’s starting to pick up now.

Snow just started, 37 in Asheville

Been flurries/light snow all morning in Waynesville, 34, still no accumulation on anything (in town, I suspect at higher elevations it's sticking), currently more like light snow than flurries fwiw

Interesting to see so many short range models trimming totals in the lee of the Apps, yet continue to show more intense rates and snow bands in those areas this afternoon. It doesn't really add up.

Yeah it came out of nowhere! Going to start salting the sidewalks shortly. It’s not really sticking at the moment.

Anyone not feeling optimistic should look at Knoxville radar. Could be a good afternoon.

Haven't given up hope, but the trends are troubling for the lee.
