Spoiled kids be spoiled,  here is the highest snowstorm by year, Boston and North Foster coop the average has gone from 8 to 11 Boston,  9 to 14 here, since 1990 big jump up. Spoiled

Is that calendar day rather than storm total?  Must be, as unlike what the chart shows, Boston's had several >25" (one such being the 1969 "100-hour" storm, which the chart shows as <15".)  Using the calendar day would certainly cut down on the 12"-ers.

This is from the old BOX site. 12” events aren’t supposed to be this easy.

https://web.archive.org/web/20000815054151/http://www.nws.noaa.gov/er/box/

Click on snowstorms and then climatology.

I laugh when people expect a 12 incher every year now.

Oh absolutely 12" events aren't supposed to happen every year down here on the coastal plain nor should they be expected. It's certainly been an anomaly the last 18 years for the Northeast to have so many at least double digit events, that's why I pointed it out in my original post. We have been extremely lucky the last 2 decades so I wouldn't be surprised if at some point we get 4 or 5 straight winters without a big event. Regression is certainly due around here at some point.

So glad I didn't grow up/remember the 80's, especially after the very cold and snowy late 70's but I'm a realist and by no means am I expecting every winter to be like 2014-2015 with at least one 12" event the rest of my life. We were close this year as it was a very 80's-like winter from what you guys were saying with it being cold and dry then warm and wet. We just lucked out 2 weeks ago and that wasn't even everyone in SNE who cashed in

Many of the back roads in the hill towns have become impassable due to mud.  Dropped the boy off at a friends house in Colrain  and never got the Subaru out of second gear.

I don’t recall roads being left to decay from my childhood until around 20 years ago.  What the hell has happened?

I know! I went with our brewery yesterday while they were canning it.  such great folks!  Glad I wasn't driving because they had me try one of everything.

The owners are super nice. This is not a great time of year to go if you don’t like mud though.  I thought I was going to be stuck...lol. Will have to wait until later to imbibe.

Some yards and woods still have snow actually. Surprised. Gotta get more into he rural areas though.

My fiancés mother’s house is surrounded by tall pines and the backyard gets essentially no sun. Still a solid half a foot back there believe it or not. Perfect environment to keep snow for this area.

Lakeville? Yeah I saw that too. Easily several inches in spots. But I don’t count that as pack. Just a lucky area void from drippage off trees to ruin pack, but benefit from shade.

Taunton... but yeah... it’s a total anomaly... but kind of cool to see. Even the piles are going quick here and that area is hanging on

I noticed lower spots that were wooded had coverage. Even in woods. Makes sense as cold will hang down in the lowest spots. Of course 4 year ago I had over 2’ of pure glacier still remaining.
