Also as a kid my favorite was Alan Casper as he loved the snow as much as us weenies ! ps how is Nick Gregory not on the list ----all these guys are better than anyone there. Yeah, the new 2010's climo the last few winters was just enough blocking with minimal cold to produce snowy outcomes. I don't think anyone would have predicted two years ago that we would see two consecutive 30-40 inch snowfall winters with average temperatures near 40 degrees. Were there any others since the 60s? I am sure it was more common during the LIA. But there have only been 14 days since the 1870's in NYC with a single digit high. 1985 was the last time. Notice the ridge is centered onshore over the Carolinas? That's the perfect summer-time location of the ridge to get 100+ degree temps right to JFK :-) I hope this patterns holds all summer long!
