lol

The doe is injured...I'm guessing a broken leg. I've seen her limping around a few times with the fawns now. She gets around OK now, but I can't see her surviving a normal to bad winter.

Probably shouldn't be too pessimistic, as deer are amazingly adaptable.  When my wildlife-biologist co-orker was manning the Kittery check station, he saw several three-legged deer come thru, and they all had been otherwise healthy.  I saw a sizable deer one February that limped when it walked, putting no wieght on its right front leg, but it looked normal when it ran.

Cloudy, muggy, and foggy morning, one for slower driving as most schools opened today.

Its 3:30pm and the early convection missed again to the south.  Really hope the meso's are right and we get something later or overnight.  Surface soil is very dry but deeper down Im sure we are fine with the big heavy rain events last month. Watering the lawns like crazy to keep them green.

I am assuming it will likely stem out of what is approaching the SLV now. We will see if we can pull of a QLCS tonight.

Nothing major here yet. Moderate rain and some thunder and lightning. Satellite tv just went out so it is picking up some.

Well September is off to a wet start locally.

I saw Stowe Village CoCoRAHS come in with 1.42" so was expecting around there but found a whopping 1.72" in my gauge. I'm only 1-2 miles as the crow flies away from that station.

North of here Hyde Park had 1.65" and southwest of here Richmond took home the prize with 2.15"!

Haha this is my first full summer with that thing. Had one or two dead bugs floating in it this morning I had to remove, lol.

I get a few in there as well, Walmart sells a combo bottle brush on one end and a sponge head on the other for around 4 bucks, Its in the same area as the bird feeders are as i use it to clean the humming bird feeder as well, It works really good..

Looks like bong resin in there. :pimp:

Bong cleaner might actually be what's needed. I'm sure there's some product to remove grime at the bottom of the rain gauge. May have to stop by the "Stash 'N Stowe" store later haha. It's closer than Walmart for the brush. I'll tell the guy it's for cleaning my rain gauge and he'll say "yeah sure it is, that's what they all say."

Had my area warned during the wee hours thias morning, got 0.12" while points west reported 1/2'-2/3".  The night before it was places south and east of my gauge that got the rain.  Once again, I'm glad it's toward the end of the gardening season so the dry spell doesn't really matter (and my cherry tomatos are splitting anyway - weird.)

Edit:  probably shouldn't admit it, but PF's inside tube looks pristine compared to my Japanese beetle killer.  Time to do the paper towel on wooden spoon handle action.

BTV's daily climate map... looks like today's map missed some of the usual CoCoRAHS spots that had some higher amounts in this area. But shows the gist of the heavy rain. That line last night just slowed to a crawl as it crossed the mountains.

yeah, that red zone of 1.0 to 1.5 inches should have extended down into southern Addison County and northwestern Rutland County, as I had 1.15 in Orwell and another in Poultney had 1.25.
