Doesnt seem that accurate.  I'm a few miles NW of Hempstead and i have between 12 and 15" on the ground.

There was about 10" or so in most places in Long Beach on the very south shore as of early this morning. I would imagine we added some to it with the snow today (I'm not there now). Many places that had more snow than we did settled the snow down so that it's hard to really tell much difference now (I drove east to Patchogue yesterday and if anything it looks like there's less snow out there despite them having less mixing with the storm last week).

William - How much on the ground there in Port Jeff.?  Centerport only had 13" as of 8AM this morning:

At least based on satellite analyses, there is a very sharp gradient in snow depth between the south and north shores:

For sure most notably feb 5-6 10. So their ten year average is sick. Long term it's gotta be the least snowy place within 40 miles of NYC

Light snow here now

There have been several storms, more notably since march 09 that have targeted Monmouth county with local bullseyes. Some have made sense, like re-developing miller B's that favor eastern areas and Monmouth does better than people to the west, many other times just blind luck (ie Saturday's event, Novy 7th 2012)... There are major differences from a place like coastal Belmar/Neptune from a Freehold-Colts Neck which behaves more like Middlesex county (the former more like Ocean County)

It's not often that any part of LI sees >20" snow depth without at least one blockbuster storm of at least 15".  Quite impressive!

They front ended with 14 on Thrs, The NS has such a unique micro climate compared to the SS .  Plus these nickel and dime event before and after just never had a chance to melt .

Def , Just East of 18- that gets you 20 miles from the coast for Colts Neck .You see Colts Neck , Manalapan,  Freehold and Marlboro hold onto Snow long after Asbury , Long Branch and Atlantic highlands go over .

Looking at my snow stake...there appears to be 16 inches on the ground at present...which includes the 4 new inches that have fallen today...some rain has mixed with the snow in the last 5 minutes.

The latest snowfall figures for EWR and NYC are: 0.9" and 1.5" respectively.

Seasonal snowfall for both sites is as follows:

EWR: 59.3" (6th highest)

NYC: 57.1" (7th highest)

Snowfall amounts for BDR and ISP have not yet been included on the PNS.

...NEW YORK COUNTY...

This morning with the 2" I was at 12". Ill Re-measure now. The north shore has even more then what's on that map too. So all in all it is low by 6" or so area wide. I also highly doubt there is no snow anywhere on island as the south fork got pummeled saturday

It might have been okay inland, but the coast and maybe even NYC would have just gotten more rain. I'd rather it have been more minor and end just as the warm air arrived.

For sure. Its like a spring day here birds are out low 40s and nice. All the snow from this morning has already melted. Hard for the inland folks to understand the se wind snow eater. That's what crushed the immediate south shore of central Suffolk. It was not nearly as bad here
