I know things can change, but if the models are still consistent tomorrow with some kind of winter storm for next week, whether it be snow, ice, or both, I think folks need to prepare this weekend. Don't wait until Monday and the local media to say something about it if the threat is still there, and then go to the store and fight the crowd and find the shelves bare. Better to be safe than sorry.

:lmao:

I might as well go all in.

The Legend of Brick

Listen my children, gather round quick,

and I'll tell you the story of a nerd named Brick.

Back in '14 a snowstorm was due,

no one seemed to know what to do.

Then out of the night a figure appeared,

some people laughed, others just sneered.

There sitting atop the big noble steed,

Brick was responding to his neighbors need.

He yelled, "To the stores, you must go right now,

the snow will be too deep, even to plow."

"You need more supplies, your kids must be fed,

so clean out the stores of all milk and bread."

Then his cell beeped and Brick took a look,

his face got all ashen, his whole body shook.

They all heard him say, as he rode out of sight,

"The models have changed, forget about tonight."

I think you're still emotionally devastated by the Jan. storm. You're treating this storm like the pre rebound you just want to reject with your girlfriends to make the storm that got away jealous.

Hah! Yes I am definitely bitter and twisted. I tried being positive for this weekends non event and that blew up in my face.

We can get him a horse.  We can shine one light from the PNC Plaza if the storm is by GFS, two if by EURO.  Ride Brick, ride like the wind!!!

So much love in the SE regional thread tonight!

One big happy family

I might as well go all in.

I was just running some numbers for January comparing the northwest burbs of Atlanta to the northwest burbs of Columbia, and while it was colder than average in Columbia, it really wasn't that cold.  There were still many days above 60 here, however it did negate the warmer than average December.  This is the coldest month in the Atlanta area that I can remember for sure.

                          Low    High

ATL NW burbs:  23       44

CAE NW burbs   29       52

 Well done, sir. Very well done indeed.

Please allow me to add a few short lines....

A Brick Tamland Winter

It was a brisk Winter's night with snow falling down

And six inches already lay on the ground.

A beautiful site but to Brick's dismay,

It was over 500 miles away.

Why can't it snow here? This is absurd!

The models, they showed it, or so I've heard.

You can't trust the models to ever be right

The excitement for snow was just last night.

I bought bread and milk because everyone said

"It's going to snow. Buy milk and bread!"

And now it's all gone. Seems like it's changed.

Seems like it always turns into rain.

How can it do this? How can this be?

Seems we can't trust these models at all, can we?

This pattern stinks and is sure getting old.

If it's not gonna snow, then it shouldn't be cold.

Who cares about nothing but cold and dry.

I can ball when it's warm, or at least I can try.

Nothing to do with the storm, but I thought this is interesting...

I'm following the Google Hangout discussion between Nate Johnson of WRAL and Ryan Maue of WeatherBell and Johnson is tweeting what Maue is telling him on Hangout. Here's few of those tweets so far...

.@RyanMaue: Snow depth maps are notoriously bad... you should stick with QPF. #hotair

.@RyanMaue There's a difference between "snow depth" and "snow accumulation". Also, Euro considers all frozen precip (FZRA, IP, SN) same.

They are still taking right now so go follow @nsj for now to see the tweets.

EDIT: Oops, didn't mean to interrupt the family's time tonight! Sorry

Well, there's the definitive answer, straight from the source.  Shawn's and Larry's suppositions have been confirmed.
