IsentropicLift Posted December 10, 2013 Share Posted December 10, 2013 You have to remember something, the area near the Poconos doesn't have great radar coverage so it may look like the stuff is dying off in NE PA but in reality it's just moving further and further away from the closest radar sites. Instead I have a thin coating of snow on top of a thin layer of ice. I agree this weekend looks tempting for us but ill believe it when i see it. Board should only be wiped once per day, ideally at the same time every day. So...if my 1.6 melts off, then we get another inch this afternoon, the total I record would still be 1.6". If the maximum snow depth reached 2" later, then that would be the total snowfall for today. Pointing this out in case not everyone saw Ray's thread on the changed measuring guidelines. Many model runs left You stay the coldest aloft in the area with the 850 freezing line slicing through northern Orange County. That high is in a great spot for CAD and hopefully it trends stronger. Many argue that the standards over the past 15 years were ridiculous. Why potentially report a few inches of snowfall if there was never an inch on the ground? Personally, I disagree with the new handling of certain special cases (for example, phase changes between sleet and snow), but I want my measurements to be consistent with the current standard.
