Term paper due for my Labor Economics class tomorrow.

5 hours of sleep in the last two days. Adderall is the only reason I'm functioning.

Hate hate hate hate hate hate hate

I remember term papers. That's what girlfriends are for. Mine got a ring out of it. :) JK, she didn't get a ring.

JK, seriously! Not really. But yeah, I'm jk. For real. :D

Good luck man. For real, joking aside. Term papers suck.

Here's some more from our beloved Waycross (according to Wikipedia):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waycross,_Georgia

Waycross is the principal city of the Waycross micropolitan area, a micropolitan area that covers Pierce and Ware counties and had a combined population of 51,119 at the 2000 Census.

...

During the 1950s the city had a tourist gimmick. The local police would stop motorists with out-of-state license plates and escort them to downtown Waycross. There they would be met by the Welcome World Committee and given overnight lodging, dinner and a trip to the Okefenokee Swamp. The tradition faded away after the interstates opened through Georgia.

During the mid 1990's, Waycross became the birthplace and testing ground of a frozen hamburger you can start cooking without defrosting called Bubba Burgers.[9] Bubba Burgers was the creation of Eaves Foods, Inc., a company that later changed to Bubba Foods, LLC. in 2000. Bubba Burgers are now sold nation-wide as well as world-wide through the United States Military Commissary system

Famous Natives and Residents:

Gram Parsons - Country Singer/Musician of The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and solo artist
Ossie Davis - Actor, Writer, Director, Producer
Pernell Roberts - actor
Stanley Booth - author, journalist, music critic
Sonora Webster Carver - First woman horse diver.
Nikki DeLoach - Former member of the new MMC and the girl group innosense and actress on the television series North Shore and Windfall
Tim McCray - Professional football player from 1985-1990 in the CFL
Caroline Pafford Miller - Pulitzer Prize winning author
Billy Carter- brother of President Jimmy Carter founder of Billy Beer
Johnny Archer - American professional pool player - "The Scorpion"
Will Denton - Current drummer for The Farm and The JaneDear Girls, former drummer of dc talk, Steven Curtis Chapman and LeAnn Rimes
Arthur Albertson - silent film actor, star of 50 silent films from 1914–1917
Bill Darden - Founder of The Green Frog, Red Lobster and Darden Restaurants which owns Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, Smokey Bones, LongHorn Steakhouse and The Capital Grille.
Leodis McKelvin - member of the NFL's Buffalo Bills
Drayton Florence - member of NFL's Carolina Panthers, highest draft pick ever from Tuskegee University

The climate is awful, IMO.  Three months of 90+ averages per year......  The lowest average high is 65... ;)

This is the ONLY way I'll ever get to see Waycross.

My girlfriend is a vocal performance major so she's pretty much useless in that regard :lmao:

Economics is my major, though I haven't taken a labor economics course yet.  I'll be done pretty soon.  In fact, I have to take the GRE exam next week as I look into graduate school.

Wow. Good luck!

I'm a first semester sophomore and labor is the first 200-level econ course I've taken (well, aside from statistics for business and economics but that's also this semester.)

Workload is hellish and I'm not very good at it, but when you're only good at history you kind of have to bite the bullet and figure out something else to do.

Thanks, I really enjoy it.  You may find it more interesting as you progress into your later years.  One aspect about economics, especially in the lower levels, is that it can be quite theoretical.  Some people like that; some don't.

My original major was meteorology, but after a couple years I decided to cut my losses and change majors.  My grades in the upper level physics and chemistry courses weren't too stellar and I really didn't like the way the meteorology job market was looking.  Plus, I didn't really have any desire to do TV weather, which is probably 50% of the jobs out there for meteorologists.  Fortunately, I am able to continue this as a hobby.

Would have done something weather related at ASU but the parents forbade that because a) not liberal arts and B) App State is a "party school."

I go to Furman now and we may only have 2,800 undergrad students but we probably go harder per capita than they do.

Lol this December is hilarious. It's like people ignored those first 9 days of record temps. Some people so sure we are going to end the month with average temperatures.

We had nine days of recored temps, or you had 9 days of record temps? I only recall about 3 or four really warm days. Not sure why I had to run my hit during record warmth. Know one seems sure about anything except a couple people who are sure dec will finish well above normal and winter is toast.

I never came close to record temps.  Just stop it with the generalizing.  I've had the HVAC on heat since the beginning of November.  Last Thursday and Friday are the only two days I didn't run it at all (night or day).  I never came close to the forecast highs either.  you rely too much on "recorded" temps and averages, although unless you record your own data I suppose it's all you have.  The SE is much larger than the swamp you live in.

What comes up must come down, I'm not worried about it and I was never counting on December for fun anyway. Bring on the New Year!

Me in a nutshell. Although I never started a actual path in meteorology, I took all the upper level physics/chem and went the Pharmacy School route instead. Sometimes I look back and wonder if I should have went the meteorology route, but the more I hear about mets out of jobs the more I'm glad I made my decision and love it as a hobby just fine!

Yeah, one needs to be a druggie to be a snowlover in the SE...
