John--while that might be true, I think the warnings for heat do very little in raising anyone's concern about anything. With ubiquitous air conditioning (GC and Dave's classroom notwithstanding), for 99.9% of the people they just say wow, it's a hot day out there. Find a shady spot and you cool down (as opposed to a frigid winter day where your sun/shade temps will not vary).

So, not saying it's not warranted, but I can't think of any advisory that matters less to people than high heat.

74.9/56

That and the folks that heat historically has the largest effect on (with regards to heat related deaths)... the homeless living in the urban oven, or in some shoddy high-rise apartment building without AC... they don't really pay attention to what advisories BOX issues. The guy living on the 10th floor of some sardine house in Hartford without AC isn't sitting there telling his girlfriend, "Uh oh, better stock up on water and not crack today... the NWS has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for tomorrow."

Not everyone lives at BDL either. People post about their backyards. Its what happens on here. Some really just don't like the fact that yes, it is actually colder in the woods between 1,400ft and 2,000ft than it is at sea level in some atrocious urban oven. He can escape the heat 90% of the time.

You don't even need to be that high. I'm only at a 1000'' here, yet here's typically a 5-7* (sometimes more) differential between here and Greenfield. Frequently, there's even a 3-5* difference between Shelburne Falls and here. The extra 800' makes for a world of difference. That said, both those locales radiate a lot better than here.

76.5/54. Going to venture out for a run.

He just dives nakid into Bash Bish falls when he gets hot...

Catches salmon with his teeth, too

Awww. Geez John. I don't complain about your posts that wander off point to a monologue about your inability to attract women or your repeated use of "cosmic dildo". Also, I'll be sure to flag each of your many IMBY posts. Athol is just fascinating.....to you.

I don't live in Athol.

Please just relax - if other's share in this observation about your posting topic, eh, you may want to consider how you come across. It's annoying quite frankly - it's distracting, it's inaccurate. It doesn't demonstrate you are aware that 2,000' of elevation bears much if any semblance to 97% of the sensible observers on this board, or in reality. It may come across as harsh, but it is truth.

And, your attempt to redirect what is pretty clearly an issue regarding your approach, as being identified in me, is false. I do not make "IMBY" posts (in sprirt of what that is supposed to mean). I am the most out-of-box contributor you will find here. That's a certainty. I only make posts about where I am if it serves the greater community for understanding my scalar input; i.e., observational threads. But that's something different entirely.

For starters, coming out with a post amid no model guidance going less the 95F for all SNE climo sites espousing a torch "fail" - try saying "For my location". That way it is realistically qualified for the reader!

They aren't going to issue a heat advisory more than a day out. That would be silly and irresponsible given that it could easily come in slightly lower than guidance at that time range. I've never seen an "excessive heat watch" like a winter storm watch either.

Also the heat advisory I believe is for the heat index...if we have lower dews in the low 60s, then the heat index won't be overwhelming. I think you need heat index over 105F over a big area to issue the advisory.

They do this all the time - maybe not here in SNE's AFD's, but PHL has had a heat watch since yesterday morning.

I agree though, that the - the DP may not be exceptional with this. I think the advisories in the MW/Lakes region then transporting that air mass east could be telling.

Seems like a perfect case of overperforming heat... underperforming humidity

I remember some instances where we had extreme heat and high td's back in '95, but west winds tend to dry us out just a little. But maybe the layer is moist enough to not mix out...not totally sure, but either way you cut it...it's fooking hot.

Wonder if OKX will as well for the five boroughs where special criteria applies.

Somehow you and Athol sounded right for each other. You fail to see the tongue in cheek nature of my posts. Funny because most of the other regulars seem to get it. I fear this may be due to the fact that you are fairly humorless. This is the curse of many eggheads. So sorry.

Lucid response... However, I don't believe you are being merely humorous when you make post espousing the heat wave as a failure - not in the way you did the other day.

Here's an idea, if you mean something to be funny - have it be funny. ;)

You don't know me, clearly. Which is fair: I don't know you either. So let's just drop it ... well, drop it, AND, you stop being stupid sounding when you post like a heroin junky.

A lot of it is thinly-veiled trolling, I think, and not meant to be stupid sounding beyond riling up the usual suspects.

I think a fight could ensue, but John might collapse from hypoxia trying to get up to 2000'.

In light of the MRG/TIP battle, it will be interesting to see how hot it actually does get in GC. My point and click now has 87* for the high tomorrow, 89* for Thursday, 81* Friday, 72* Saturday. Based on the posts here, those temps will bust badlly.
